Another week and Nick Sirianni is being dragged through the mud, yet again. This time, for a few play calls but mostly for talking s*** to the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles at The Linc. Who gives a hell if they are OUR fans or not? Sirianni did what he was supposed to do and I hope he keeps doing it.
Since the collapse last season, fans, analysts, and anyone with a pulse who hates Sirianni have been calling for his job and calling this man all kinds of names. Well, guess what, this past Sunday, the man had enough. And now everyone is in their feelings and crying wolf.
Mind you, this is coming from a fanbase that is labeled as one of the most hostile in all of sports. Philadelphia fans are just built differently. It’s a blue-collar city with hard-working people who love to talk s*** any chance they can. Well, I’m born and raised in North Philly so I get it. But I also get the sports world side of things and I also get there is only but so much nonsense I’m willing to endure until I’m backed into a corner and I explode.
Welcome back to Philadelphia Nick Sirianni, glad you finally decided to show your face. I don’t care what you said to those unruly fans because I will bet you those are the ones screaming at the top of their lungs behind the Eagles bench or calling up the radio stations and trashing you and your team. They deserved every bit of whatever scolding you gave them. Maybe now, they will learn to keep their damn mouths closed.
Booing teams is nothing new, especially in this city. If a team or player is playing badly, fans will boo. But does that make it right? If you’re a fan, then be a fan. The only fanbase that should have been booing the Eagles Sunday should have been those of the Cleveland Browns and no one else. Now you’re butt-hurt cause you booed a man and his team and then he told you about yourself. Grow some balls.
This is the moment where everything has to change for the Eagles and Nick Sirianni. He did what everyone has been wanting him to do for the last half a year and that was take accountability. He not only defended himself but he defended HIS team, YOUR team, and OUR team. That’s what you want from a head coach.
Take a look at that video again and tell me what you see. There is no one stepping in between him and the fans. Players were laughing. They were enjoying what their coach was doing. Nick had enough and the players had enough. Every week, it’s “Fire Nick Sirianni, he lost the team. He keeps interfering with the offensive and defensive game plans. He’s not a good coach.” Well, he just displayed the one trait that every player looks for. They need a reason to get behind him and he just gave them one and yet, those fans and the national media are ridiculing him for it. This is what Brandon Graham had to say about his coach after the blowup:
“I told him to be him. I need him to be 2022 Nick. …We want people to be themselves. Coach has been taking a bunch of heat, and I understand he got a lot of stuff on him,” Graham said. “We got his back. Because Philly can be hard — I know all about it. How I do it every day, I say, ‘They’re going to eat the words that they say.’ And Nick’s probably saying it, too. And every chance that you get, you let them know. That’s what I would do.”
He’s been called a clown on National TV. It got so bad, that he had to apologize. Hell no Nick, no need to be sorry. This is Philadelphia, we’re Ford tough here. We live for these moments. Those fans got exactly what they didn’t expect. What they wanted was for him to ignore them and walk away so they could then say that he didn’t stick up for himself or the team and then try to divide you. That’s what they wanted.
But you engaged them. On TV the talk was that you did it when the game was over when you were winning. Well, when else was he supposed to do it while his team was in a dogfight? Was he supposed to take the headphones off, call a timeout, walk to the stands in the 3rd quarter, and give the fans his focus? Someone make it make sense to me.
Nick Sirianni is fed up. Let the man and the team be. He just proved to you that he’s one of us. Nick is a s*** talker. He’s no longer going to ignore you. He hears you screaming for his head on a platter. Maybe this is exactly what the team needed. As Graham said, they wanted that 2022 Sirianni back. And by the sounds of things, so did the fans. Well, you got em..
