The Philadelphia Eagles are atop the NFC East after dismantling the Washington Commanders in Week 11. While the match is considered a rivalry game, it was a showcase of the division’s superiority.
The Commanders have gained new fans this season, thanks to their 7-2 surprise record before the Eagles game. Many analysts pegged the Commanders as the team to beat in the division, and deep down, the Eagles knew that was a crock of s***. Yes, Washington started the year well, but they are not on the Eagles’ level yet. The Eagles have been doing this for years.
Jayden Daniels has been solid as a rookie but the Eagles defense showed just why he still has a ways to go. The Commanders were built in the mold of the Eagles. A running QB, a strong RB, a talented receiver, and a veteran TE. However, being molded after a team is one thing, but being like them, that’s something else.
The Dallas Cowboys are struggling. After winning the division last season thanks to a historic collapse by the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys will miss the playoffs. You can’t proclaim to be better than the Eagles and then not keep pace. For fans saying the Dak Prescott injury was a blow, the truth is, they were 3-5 before Prescott went down. They couldn’t keep up with the Eagles. Good rivals, but not good enough.
The New York Giants fate was sealed the moment Joe Schoen picked up the phone this offseason, called Saquon Barkley, and informed him he could test the waters. Well, we know how that turned out for them. Barkley is leading the NFL in rushing and scrimmage yards. There is no threat there at all.
To beat the Eagles, you must first believe you are better than them. The Commanders let the outside world lie to them and they were dealt a dose of reality. The same with the Giants. The revenge game was just that. Barkley ran all over the Giants and showed why they made one of the biggest blunders in NFL history.
As for the Cowboys, all that money spent on their top offensive players and the Eagles made them look like an XFL team.
Hearing how good you are from the outside world would have them believing something not based on facts. The Philadelphia Eagles are the class of the NFC East. While imperfect, they understand what it takes to win the big games. These other teams are trying to mirror what they do and have failed miserably.
The game against the Commanders was proof of just how far ahead they are of the rest of the division. Two new coordinators, a new RB, a new Center, two rookies starting in the secondary, and a defense so young, that the majority of them played college ball just 2 seasons ago. You can’t match that no matter what you do.
The Philadelphia Eagles own the NFC East. The Commadees have an easier schedule and could very well find their way back atop, but head to head, they are no match for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations and not just making the playoffs. To be the best you have to beat the best and so far, no one in the NFC East has surpassed the Eagles.
