Patriots Saved Their Season on Sunday

The Patriots beat the Jets on Sunday. It saved their season but the win wasn’t pretty. The biggest takeaway from the Jets side is Zach Wilson can’t play quarterback and if that was Aaron Rodgers the Patriots probably would’ve lost. Not only did the Jets save their season but so did Aaron Rodgers being out for the season. The Jets were so disconnected on Sunday that coaches and players were yelling at each other on the sideline. The Jets are a mess with Zach Wilson and need a veteran quarterback as soon as possible.

Patriots Defense Was The Story On Sunday

On the Patriots side, the defense is the best function of the team and that offense has no juice when it comes to a number one pass catcher. The biggest play for the Patriots on offense was a touchdown catch and run from Mac Jones to tight end nobody had ever heard of Pharaoh Brown. Brown played on the Texans when O’Brien was head coach there. But that is pretty bad when a player that nobody thought was on the Patriots to make a big play.

Meanwhile, rookie Demario Douglas is getting mauled by cornerbacks when a deep ball his thrown to him. The lack of offense is on the lack of pass catchers for Mac Jones. The biggest play the useless JuJu Smith-Schuster made yesterday was a personal foul play that gave the Jets juice late in the game. Smith-Schuster has to be the most useless player on the team and there is no reason why he’s on the team other than he took Belichick’s contract.

Why is there a disconnect between Mac and Smith-Schuster? Because like I said in the summer Smith-Schuster singed his contract and went on vacation while Mac was throwing with new teammates at a local high school. Smith-Schuster not throwing with Mac in the offense season falls on Smith-Schuster . Mac would’ve thrown with him had Smith-Schuster stayed local.

“It was a good win for us today. Down here, it’s always tough. Jets are a tough team, they did a good job. Defense is really, really good. We had a good running game. I thought we played pretty good run defense against them and we were able to run the ball better than we have in the first couple weeks. In the end, some keys plays in the fourth quarter”

It was a good win but would they have won with better quarterback play from the Jets? The answer is no because they have no playmakers on offense that can deliver a spark the team needs. Demaio Douglas who again got mauled twice going for a deep ball is too short over a a 6ft cornerback. And Smith-Schuster shouldn’t be on the team. The Patriots just got Bill O’Brien and got worse at receiver getting rid of Jakobi Meyers because of his thoughts on the offense a year ago. Now they are stuck with a washed up Smith-Schuster who’s knee could explode at any moment.

Here is what Mac Jones said on Sunday

I mean we’re definitely close and thought the play calling was really good. Coach (Bill) O’Brien did a great job calling a great game. We just got to execute better and I just got to let them touch the ball but in a day like today, with the wind and the rain, you just got to be really smart and play smart football.

Bill O’Brien has a better scheme not doubt but doesn’t have the playmakers at receiver to execute his offense. This is not on Mac Jones it’s the talent around him still. He can play quarterback unlike Wilson who shouldn’t even be in the league. At least Mac fights and try to work with what he’s been dealt with.
