The Patriots have a crowded quarterback room. Jerod Mayo has said they will cut down to three quarterbacks to begin training camp. Who gets the boot? In likelihood it’s probably Bailey Zappe. Zappe doesn’t fit in with the quarterback room. Jacoby Brissett, Joe Milton, and Drake Maye are all big in size. Zappe is a peanut compared to them.
Jacoby Brissett Is The Starting Quarterback
Starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett spoke Wednesday Bailey Zappe and how he’s handled being the elephant in the room.
The way Zappe handled the last two years thinking he was the next best thing since Brady because he kissed Belichick’s ass. He doesn’t belong on the roster with a rookie quarterback. Zappe said this about being in a quarterback competition on Wednesday.
Bailey Zappe Thinks There’s A Quarterback Competition
I wouldn’t mind if they cut Zappe and sign a veteran to backup Brissett for training camp. It’s only crowded with Zappe because of his attitude. Brissett knows his role and Maye is a rookie who shouldn’t start.
Maye shouldn’t be the backup to Brissett I don’t care who backs up Brissett just it can’t be Zappe after the last two years.
Here’s what Eliot Wolf said on what they’ll do differently when it comes to supporting Maye that Belichick failed to do with Mac Jones.
To the delusional Patriot fans that don’t understand why Belichick got fired. There is no defensive or special teams coach coaching the offense. There’s a quarterbacks coach, and there’s a career offensive minded offensive coordinator that will never be a head coach.
In all likelihood Brissett is the starter, Milton is on the Practice squad, Zappe is cut, they sign a veteran to backup Brissett that fits what they’re trying to do. And Maye is the third quarterback.
Even Mayo called Zappe the elephant in the room also.
