Patriots‘ owner didn’t like how this season went down whatsoever. On Monday he sends a letter to season ticket holders about the failure of a season and changes are coming. He meets with Belichick about those changes and Thursday night releases a statement saying they are in contract extension talks with Jerod Mayo and interviewing for offensive coordinator jobs next week. That statement is something Patriots have never done. That was a clear message to the public that Kraft isn’t going to let Belichick drag his feet as he did after Brady and Josh McDaniels left. They need offensive coaching and need it now.
This never happened when Tom Brady was in New England because they were winning at a high level and Brady pulled games out of his ass. He’s still doing it to this day. Don’t let him win on Monday night while the Patriots are looking for an offensive coordinator. Like the public Kraft sees what is going on and doesn’t like it. Belichick’s ego getting in the way because he wants to do what’s best for him and not the team. That isn’t the case anymore. What was best for the team was not to have Patricia and Judge on your offensive staff making your second-year quarterback look like he doesn’t know what he’s doing on the field. Jones isn’t the problem he was fine in his rookie season it’s straight coaching it’s obvious. This is what Kraft said last March about Patricia and Judge going to the offense at the Owner’s Meetings.
Those results were a disaster which has pushed him to make changes and probably rethinking the Tom Brady decision in 2020. Really they should’ve kept Brady and either promoted Josh or Jerod if Belichick didn’t like it and left. They probably would’ve won another Super Bowl. Even if Bill stayed they would’ve won another Super Bowl. The Patriots are 25-26 since Brady left in 2020 Belichick’s record without Brady before the Patriots isn’t good either. I’m sorry but it’s clear the Patriot way has and always will be Tom Brady period end of story. Kraft knows it definitely now if he didn’t want to see it before.
As they push for an offensive coordinator and coaches we’ll see how long it takes. Will it be Bill O’Brien, Kingsbury, or Chad O’Shea? Who knows but anybody is better than what they had this season. There was a disconnect between the players and coaches this season. You hardly saw that when Brady was here. When you’re winning all that stuff really doesn’t come out it’s when you lose that it starts to come out.
