The Patriots had a must-win last Sunday against the Steelers. They didn’t want to go 0-4 to start September. They still could go 1-3 but this is why this Sunday’s game against the Ravens could be a must-win also. The offensive line played better and the run game. However, Mac Jones was just ok, and I expect him to prove the doubters wrong on Sunday. All week on sports radio the topic was Jones has a noodle arm and looks like Chad Pennington. How can you judge Jones after being the best rookie quarterback last year to this year having offensive coaches with zero experience coaching plays on that side of the ball.
I expect Jones to come out firing in shotgun on Sunday and Kendrick Bourne starting the game. No excuse why he isn’t starting games. DeVante Parker the worst receiver on the depth chart and a Patricia guy deserves not to start the game. I think Jakboi Meyers, Nelson Agholor, and Kendrick Bourne should be the receivers on the first offensive possession. Don’t get me started on Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry where have they been? Patriots paid out the nose for those two tight ends and they have contributed zero so far this season. Jonnu Smith for two seasons.
The Patriots Face the Ravens in their home opener
The offensive line played a lot better last week and they gave Jones enough time to throw the ball. They also created holes for Damien Harris and Stevenson. Matt Judon is playing his former teammate Lamar Jackson and knows the Ravens offense well.
Jackson is ten times better of a quarterback than Mitchell Trubisky is and can run. Jackson can also make plays and is a better passer. The defense will have it’s hands full with Jackson on Sunday.
Mac Jones spoke Wednesday about the Ravens defense.
“I think their defense is really good, they always have been. This year, they have a lot of really good players. I think that was a really interesting game for sure, but it was just a few plays. They did a really good job in their first two games overall and like I said, the players are there, the schemes are there, obviously, kind of a new scheme-ish. They’re trying to learn it, trying to communicate with each other, you can tell. Really, really good players, ball hawks in the secondary, good upfront, good at linebacker, so definitely have our plate full.”
Mac Jones will have a great game on Sunday
I really do think he will have a good game which will prove his doubters wrong. All he has to do is throw the ball to the guys that make the plays. Meyers, Bourne, Agholor, Damen Harris. All those guys make plays and are reliable. Who knows maybe Parker does something Sunday, but I doubt it because every time the ball is thrown his way it’s either incomplete or intercepted. Overall, the offense has a long way to go and that is thanks to the coaching staff.
There are even players on the offensvie side of the ball that are questioning the direction of the offense. As Mike Girardi of NFL Network reported last week that Meyers was one of the ones questioning the direction of the offense. I’m sure Meyers is in a cage after those comments.
