The Patriots failure of a season falls on Bill Belichick. He said back in the spring when he put Matt Patricia and Joe Judge to coach the offense, that if it fails the blame falls on him. Well, here we are the Patriots had a worse record than last year and scored fewer points than they did with Cam Newton in 2020. It’s literally the same exact team as last year that went 10-7 and made the playoffs. There is no excuse why this team isn’t a playoff team and that falls on Bill Belichick 100 percent.
Patriots Need To Find Ways To Get Better
Trevor Lawrence for the Jaguars had a terrible rookie season last year and this year the Jaguars made the playoffs what was the difference? Coaching. Daniel Jones was terrible with Joe Judge as head coach now this year they are in the playoffs. The difference is coaching. Mac Jones has Josh McDaniels in his rookie season and goes 10-7 with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. This year Mac threw for 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The common dominator is the same it’s coaching. This notion from Patriots fans that Mac isn’t good, and they should put Bailey Zappe in has Tom Brady syndrome.
Patriots Fans Think Every Quarterback Is The Next Tom Brady
Nobody is ever going to be Tom Brady, not Mac, Zappe, Rodgers, etc. Zappe had two good games against the Lions and the Browns then sucked in the second half of the Bears game. People think that every time they see good play at quarterback, they think it’s the next Brady. That isn’t or ever will be the case. If the arrogant coach paid Brady in the 2019 offseason the Drew Brees contract 2 years at $25 million the Patriots may have another Super Bowl. But Belichick thought he could still win with Brady and since he’s .500 25-25 while Brady’s gone to the playoffs the last three seasons and won the Super Bowl.
The teammates around Mac Jones stand behind their quarterback whether people like it or not. Even after meeting Hunter Henry a few weeks ago the vibe I got was the Patriots just wanted the season to get over with. They weren’t having fun and there probably was a disconnect between the young players and the coaching staff. We don’t know what Mac Jones is yet until they get a real offensive mind in here to coach him. Bill Belichick can’t do that, and neither can Patricia or Judge. Put Judge back on Special Team and Patricia upstairs doing contacts like he did in 2021.
If Bill Belichick brings back Patricia and Judge to run the offense you could see a small chance that Jones could ask to be traded. I’m sure the Raiders would be interested considering Josh McDaniels ties and how good Jarrett Stidham looked when he started a couple of weeks ago. Funny how Stidham didn’t get the chance to play in 2020 but gets traded to the McDaniels Raiders and goes toe to toe with the 49ers defense. You put Mac with the Raiders with that coaching and offense the team wins the division. While the Patriots are stuck with dumb and dumber coaching the offense.
But I don’t see that happening I think Kraft wants Jones here and knows he can play. Belichick has no choice but to get a real offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, and quarterback coach in here. Whether that be Bill O’Brien Kliff Kingsbury, I don’t care who it is. Just someone that knows what they’re doing. Bill and that coaching staff failed Mac this season and need to fix it. If Bill doesn’t fix it expect Mac Jones to go play for someone else while the Patriots are stuck going into the draft for a quarterback year in and year out.
