Tuesday October 28
Hockey fans, we are officially 5 weeks into the 2025-26 NHL season.
Let’s drop the puck and get started
Starting the first period with news around the NHL.
The Montreal Canadiens announced on Saturday that Patrik Laine will miss 3-4 months after having core muscle surgery. Laine hasn’t played since Oct. 16, a 3-2 overtime win against the Nashville Predators. He was initially listed as day to day with a lower-body injury, which is now confirmed to be a 3-4 month recovery.
The Pittsburgh Penguins Announced on Saturday that (RW) Rickard Rakell had surgery on his left hand and will miss 6-8 weeks, this season alone Rakell who has eight points (three goals, five assists) now has to recover and get back into the grove and hope that this 6-8 weeks doesn’t end up influencing the rest of this season.
(C) Dylan Strome is day to day and won’t travel with the Capitals for their game against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. The forward was injured in the first period of a 7-1 loss at the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. “You’re always concerned when someone goes into the boards,”. “I guess it wasn’t a collision, but going into the boards awkwardly, you’re always a little bit concerned. But his coming back out to try it, I was optimistic, because if he doesn’t come back at all, that means it’s pretty significant. So, his coming back to go to try it and going through a shift after that made me feel a little bit more positive about where he was at.” -Coach Spencer Carbery.
And a big Congrats to the great 87 Sidney Crosby and the Penguins organization, on 1,700 Pts. As a Capitals fan, I’ve definitely been on the wrong side of the history books, but one of the greats keeps his name in the history books and continues to carve away till the last game. Crosby now sits 9th on the leaderboard for NHL career points.

And taking a trip back in time, the Hartford Whalers (Carolina Hurricanes) and the Quebec Nordiques (Colorado Avalanche) faced off back on the 23rd in the retro jerseys to pay homage to the team’s origins. The Whalers ended coming out on top in the shootout 5-4
Moving into the second period, it’s the Frozen Frenzy.

Tuesday, October 28, we had another busy hockey day across the league all 32 teams will face off. Starting with the battle of Pennsylvania, we have the Penguins at Flyers at 6 pm, and the Flames at Toronto; both games start at 6 pm EST. With games going all the way to 11 pm EST, the Kings at the Sharks will end the night.
Here’s my take on a few of the games
Penguins over Flyers
Leafs over Flames
Hurricanes over Knights
Predators over Lightning
Capitals over Stars
Canucks over Rangers
Kings over Sharks
These are just a few takes I have of the night, a few of these games could be close with powerhouse matchups, but some games will be less so because of the team’s record and performances so far this season. But of course, like the lotto, it’s a gamble; things can always take a turn for the worse or the best, depending on what fanbase you follow.
And with the final 20 Minutes to go, let’s talk preview for the upcoming week.
Wednesday, October 29th, will be a 1 game schedule in the league with the Leafs in Columbus at 7:30 EST
Thursday, October 30th, will be a more exciting day with 11 games.
Starting the night with the Sabers at the Bruins at 7 pm EST
Ending the night with the Red Wings at the Kings at 10:30 pm EST
The Knights host the Avalanche at 4 pm EST
The Islanders take a short trip south to play the Capitals at 7 pm EST.
And the night ends with the Red Wings in Anaheim to play the Ducks at 10 pm EST
Getting into OT

Ending with the Rangers in Seattle to play the Kraken at 10 pm EST
Sunday holds 5 games.
Starting at 3:30 pm EST with the Lightning in Utah

This is David signing off for the week. This week holds plenty of games to keep an eye on, but no matter who you watch, it will be a good game.
