It was not pretty and I’m positive that it did not go as it’s supposed to, but at the end of NFL Week 6 the Los Angeles Rams improved their record to 6-0 and are now the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL.
After an overnight snowstorm, set the game-time temperature at 25 degrees marking the second-coldest day ever in Denver prior to November in franchise history.
The cold however did nothing to slow down Todd Gurley, who scored his 10th and 11th touchdowns of the season in addition to career a high 208 yards.
The Los Angeles Rams fought their way through an ugly, physical contest to beat the Denver Broncos, 23-20, on the back of Gurley’s big day.
Thanks in large part to an offensive line that was creating monster holes, Gurley racked up a career high and it was the first time a Rams running back has topped 200 yards since Marshall Faulk did in 2001.
“It was a team effort,” Gurley said after the game. “Everybody did a great job, and it was just kind of easy for me, honestly, because those guys did such a great job.”
Reached by phone Sunday night, Marshall Faulk said that Todd Gurley is unquestionably playing like the NFL’s most valuable player at this point.
“There’s no doubt,” said Faulk, who won the MVP award in 2000. “I know they love giving it to quarterbacks, and unless a running back does something that’s unbelievable that hasn’t been done before, it’s hard to get it from a quarterback…”
Faulk, who was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011, is regarded as the quintessential triple threat, someone who could not only run the ball, but also catch passes out of the backfield, and be a reliable blocker in pass protection.
In the end, it’s what you might have expected from a frigid day on the road. It was ugly, it was physical, but it was also impressive!
The Los Angeles Rams gamed their way to a win en route to their perfect 6-0 record. And while the game itself might not have impressive, their ability to manage through uncomfortable conditions and shaky play certainly did.
The Rams seem to be used to good results and winning now that the team has six wins in a row. As they came out on top of the Denver Broncos, 23-20.
The Denver Broncos got a solid performance out of quarterback Case Keenum, who passed for 322 yards and 2 touchdowns; unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough for the win.
The two teams are just heading in opposite directions at the moment.
The Rams added further sheen to their flawless record, now 6-0.
While the Broncos are on a four-game losing streak that has brought their record down to 2-4.
