This has been one of the craziest NFL seasons of all-time. In the NFC ,Week 13 had the Arizona Cardinals as a number 1 seed. They are now a # 4 seed. In the AFC, The Miami Dolphins were 1-7. They have won 6 straight games and are in the thick of the wild card race. Did anyone have the Patriots winning their division with rookie quarterback Mac Jones under center?
NFL 2021-22 Awards:
Most Valuable Player:
12 out of the last 13 MVP’s have been quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers is the favorite to win the MVP this season but he missed a game because of Covid-19 protocols. Tom Brady would be another logical choice but, he just got shutout by the New Orleans Saints, 9-0. My choice is the Los Angeles Rams Wide Receiver, Cooper Kupp. The Former Eastern Washington stand-out, is first in almost every receiving category.
- Receiving yards, 1,489.
- 113 receptions.
- 12 touchdowns.
The Rams offense is predicated on spreading the ball around but Kupp has been the most dominant player, week in and week out.
Defensive player of the Year:
Legendary New York Giants Linebacker, Lawrence Taylor had 9.5 sacks his rookie season. Dallas Cowboys Rookie, Micah Parsons has 12 sacks in 14 games and 115 total tackles. No matter where the Cowboys put this athlete, he is making plays all over the field. As long as he is healthy the Cowboys defense can put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The Cowboys are the No.2 seed in the NFC right now, and he is a huge reason why.
Coach of the Year:
Matt LaFluer of the Green Bay Packers has gotten better every season. In his rookie year, LaFluer went 13-3 and led the Pacers to and NFL Championship game. He followed that up with a 13-3 record and a trip back to the NFC Title Game. This team is the most complete unit on both sides of the ball. They can beat you with running the ball, passing with Aaron Rodgers or defense. If they are healthy, they should be the favorite to win the Super Bowl. I defy anyone to tell me what NFL coach has had a better first three seasons on the sidelines.
Offensive Player of the Year:
Derek Henry’s injury has really impacted the Tennessee Titans. Jonathan Taylor is now the most complete running back in the NFL. Indianapolis calls on him early and often in every game and he has not disappointed Colts Nation. Taylor is putting up video game-like numbers. He has rushed for over 1,500 yards; he is averaging 5.6 yards per carry and has 36 receptions and 19 total touchdowns. He has been Mr. Everything for a struggling offense.
