The 49ers come into this week’s game feeling great, after a national television beatdown of the Cowboys. Going up against a beat-up Cleveland Browns team that is without its starting QB again. I wouldn’t call this a “trap game” but with a defense ranked first in total defense which keeps them hanging around games Cleveland has been able to make their games respectful but the San Francisco 49ers are a whole different animal and this animal is aggressive and at peak form.
Start Fast:
Getting a jump on the Browns will be key since this isn’t an offense built for comebacks. Establishing the running game with Christian McCaffrey. Hit those quick slants and Kittle over the middle medium gainers. That is assuming the passing game is an option since the weather is expected to be classic Ohio in October rain and crazy winds. Which would put even more emphasis on the running game. McCaffrey leads the league in rushing and is another way to slow down Myles Garrett and his 5 1/2 sacks. Can anyone make Brock Purdy look human? Mr. Cool has shown us when healthy he is one of the best in the business. The more talking heads try to dis what Brock is doing the better he performs and just continues to do his thing which is winning and making little to no mistakes.
Which Defense Is Better?
Another showdown as the 49ers defense isn’t bad at all. In fact, it’s gone 32 games without giving up a 100-yard rusher. Like last week with Parsons, Nick Bosa faces another great pass rusher. Both these men can destroy a game plan with quickness. If you didn’t know who Fred Warner was you do NOW after last Sunday’s show he put on. And how does the recently acquired Randy Gregory fit into the mix? With their ability to create turnovers, the Niners will want to force mistakes and score points. Former Brown Tashaun Gibson would love nothing more than to get some payback against his former team. Keep an eye on him. With the way this defense has been playing, I give a backup QB no chance to be successful and give them any trouble.
Conclusion
Like every week in the NFL the individual matchups are so good once again. What factor will the weather have on the game? Trent Williams vs Myles Garrett is blockbuster-type stuff. If Cleveland isn’t able to run the ball and you add in the weather it’s a wrap early. These are the games that top teams don’t let you hang around. They jump on you early and crush your will to compete, all that should be on display today. I see the Niners moving to 6-0 and get a 27-10 victory. Enjoy the game Niner Gang
