The New York Yankees struggled in August. It seems in order to add new life to the team, the Bombers are calling up Oswald Peraza From AAA Scranton Wilkes-Barre to join them in Tampa Bay.
Earlier today, the Yankees made the following roster moves:
•Reinstated INF/OF Marwin Gonzalez from the paternity list.
•Recalled INF Oswald Peraza from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.— New York Yankees (@Yankees) September 1, 2022
Peraza will be the second Yankee prospect called up in the past few weeks waiting to make their MLB Debut. They also recalled Oswaldo Cabrera a few weeks ago, and he has become a mainstay in the Yankee lineup since. Cabrera has played the role of ultimate utility guy finding himself at right field, shortstop, third base, and second base.
Many fans were clamoring for Peraza after Thursday night’s game in Los Angeles. Shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa made a costly error in the sixth inning. Mike Trout hit a ground ball in front of IKF, and it was booted allowing Trout to reach base and bringing up Shohei Ohtani as the go-ahead run.
Gerrit Cole got behind Ohtani 2-0 and left a fastball right down the middle. Ohtani launched it into the LA night and gave the Angels a 3-2 lead. That lead held on as the Yankees once again lost. Kiner-Falefa’s costly error proved to provide the difference in the game.
If the Yankees follow the same playbook with Peraza that they did with Cabrera, fans should expect to see a lot of Peraza in September. After a 10-18 month of August, the Yankees are looking for an adrenaline shot to get them back on track.
Peraza Not Only Top Prospect Moved
Peraza’s departure from Scranton Wilkes-Barre left an open spot for the AAA roster. Enter top prospect, Anthony Volpe. Volpe will be promoted from AA Somerset up to the AAA squad.
Hearing that Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe is being promoted to AAA with Oswald Peraza going to the majors.

Gearing up for the playoff run should be enough to keep fans engaged. Now with the roster moves the fans will have another reason to tune in. Peraza should have a great opportunity to showcase his skills to the Bronx faithful.
