By Monte Perez:
The (3-0) Las Vegas Raiders will travel to Sofi Stadium Monday Night to take on the 2-1 Los Angeles Chargers.
Time: 8:20 PM
Channel: ESPN
Spread: Chargers are favored by 3 points.
If you love defense, this may not be the game for you.
The Raiders are ranked first in total yards. They are putting up 492.3 yards per game. Derek Carr has been performing at an MVP-like level. In 4 games he has thrown for 1,203 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. His passer rating is 101.4. Las Vegas has needed to rely on Carr because their running game has been non-existent. They are ranked 25th in rushing. Their defense has been top15 in almost every category. They are not a great unit, but they have played well enough to start the year 3-0.
The Chargers have been an elite team over the past 7 games. They are 6-1 going back to last season. Since Week 2 of last year, Justin Herbert is…
- 1 in Completions
- 2 in 300-yard passing games
- 2 in total yards
He is the best quarterback in the NFL that no one wants to talk about. The Chargers are averaging 307 passing yards per game and Austin Eckler Is averaging 4.7 yards per rushing attempt. Rashawn Slater has not let up a sack in over 150 snaps.
The Chargers’ defense held the Cowboys to 20 points and the Chiefs to 24 points. If Derwin James and Joey Bosa are on the field, this defense unit can make plays.
Prediction:
The Raiders have been a good story for the first three weeks, but the Chargers are a much more complete team on both sides of the ball. Las Vegas is 6-1 in its last 7 road games. That streak ends on Monday Night. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are the best 1-2 combination at the wide receiver position that the rest of the country does not know about.
Herbert will throw over 300 yards and have at least 3 touchdowns.
The Chargers win 38-30.
