The Minnesota Vikings are back in action this week against the Arizona Cardinals. The Vikings will welcome the Cardinals to town this Sunday as they host them at the US BANK Stadium. The Cardinals are coming to Minneapolis, MN, after a big win last week over the New Orleans Saints. The Vikings are well-rested and healthy coming off their bye week. The Vikings are putting their at-home unbeaten streak on the line.
Last week the Arizona Cardinals saw the return of their superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from suspension. Hopkins immediately provided a spark for the Cardinals’ offense and maybe even the whole team. In his first game back, Hopkins hauled in 10 passes for 103 yards, not bad for a day’s work.
The Arizona Cardinals went off for 42 points against the Saints last week. The defense got into the scoring as well with back-to-back pick-sixes. The Cardinals come into this weekend with a 3-4 record. However, the Cardinals are 4-7 all-time when they play here in Minnesota. In fact, they haven’t won in Minnesota since before any of the current roster of Cardinals were born 1977! So the Cardinals are trying to do something they haven’t done in 5 decades; win a game against the Vikings in Minnesota.
The injury report for the Arizona Cardinals is not short; they have placed DT Rashard Lawrence on Injured reserve, along with Wide Receiver Marquise Brown and Guard Justin Pugh. Now for the questionable: LB Dennis Gardek, C Rodney Hudson, G Cody Ford, OT D.J. Humphries, CB Christian Matthew, RB James Conner (ribs), RB Darrel Williams (knee), PK Matt Prater (hip), and lastly, S Jalen Thompson (calf).
The Minnesota Vikings Offense Is Rolling
The Minnesota Vikings have marched out to a 5-1 record, along with a perfect 3-0 division record. The Vikings are also undefeated at home this year. The Vikings are comfortable and well rested as probably the healthiest team in the NFL at this point of the season. Head Coach Kevin O’Connell has done a wonderful job transitioning this team from a defensive/run-to-control tempo and clock to an offensive pass first run after moving the ball, and score club has really worked out better than expected. The Vikings lead the NFL in points scored with less than four minutes to go in the first half of games this season.
The Minnesota Vikings are finally rising to the top five in Power Rankings lists. They deserve the recognition as one of only four teams with one or fewer losses. They have the strongest lead of any division in the NFL with a two-and-a-half-game lead. The Vikings are averaging 23.2 points per game while surrendering just 19.7. That’s a plus 3.5-point differential. Speaking of 3.5 points, that’s the spread for this game. The Vikings are 3.5-point favorites in this one. The Vikings are 2-4 against the spread. The money line has the Vikings -195. The over-under for this game is 49. Seeing as the Cardinals just dropped 42 last week, I can see this game being a high scoring back and forth battle. The Vikings are 58% favorites to win. Whoever scores last will get the win. I think this will be a 34-30 kind of game, with the Vikings coming out on top. As always, skol Vikings
