Milf Manor
Milf (Yes the Mother I’d To F***) Manor nope, it’s not a new porn movie, it is however about to be one of the latest in a slew of never-ending “Reality.” TV series. Set to debut in January 2023 on TLC (The Learning Channel??), taking learning to a real stretch I suppose. The most famous acronym since the one that starts with an F and ends with a K (For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge), for those who have never been taught what it meant. Thank you, Mr. Crowe -Swords my sociology teacher in high school who would make you recite what it actually meant if he heard using the F word in and out of his class.
Welcome to #MILFManor! Eight hot moms leave home for the chance to find love with men half their age, but they're greeted with a shocking twist. The new series premieres January 15th at 10/9c on @TLC. pic.twitter.com/SdkuyotqLi

Now I am not a watcher of “Reality,” TV, I am that guy who just has no interest in living vicariously through these people who are willing to subject themselves to this genre and never will be. So I won’t be tuning in just as I have never turned on any of these shows. From Survivor to all the various “Real Housewives of ______”, the Bachelor and Bachelorettes of the world. This show will be about what was once such a taboo but has become absolutely mainstream these days. Whatever floats your boat. I am not going to attack the women who choose to appear on this program. Instead, I am going to talk about the shift in attitudes over time regarding what used to be called a May/December relationship. Of course in the so-called “Good Old Days,” it was acceptable for the “May,” to be a young woman and the “December,” to be an older man. The other way around though was laughably today treated very differently. It was just so wrong for an older woman to be with a younger man. Maybe that’s why even today it’s still a favorite fantasy for many older women and of course for younger men.
No Longer A Taboo
I grew up in a time when the 1967 film “The Graduate,” was deemed risque by many. If you’ve never seen the film it’s the story of Benjamin played by Dustin Hoffman a recent college graduate who is questioning his future and ends up being involved with what many would call the original movie MILF, Mrs. Robinson played by Anne Bancroft. “Are you trying to seduce me, Mrs. Robinson?” is one of the most famous lines ever in a movie. Just to make things more complicated Benjamin falls in love with Mrs.Robinson’s daughter. I remember how people would say how shocking so many thought that theme in a movie was at the time. So for those of you “MILF,” fanatics from the “American Pie,” days it was Mrs. Robinson long before Stifler’s mom was even thought of.
The only other time you really ever saw an older woman and younger man on the screen was of course in European films for many years. Then along came the first explosion of pornographic movies in the 70s and 80s, suddenly there were older women with younger guys but it was still not called by today’s well-known acronym. Because the film was considered graphic in 1978 “In Praise of Older Women,” was another classic film that went through a man’s life (Tom Berenger), and the numerous dalliances he had with older women. Mainstream Hollywood started to once again have films like My Tutor and Valley Girl in 1983 involving older women and younger men. It was far more acceptable than back in the 60s by that time. In the real world, however, it was still not as accepted as the older man-younger women relationships. It was still absolutely a part of these movies that the woman was bad, that she was not moral somehow.
I was never fond of judgemental girls/women gossip discussions be it about what someone wore, their hair, make-up, and all those topics that I just felt were catty. Take the cattiness to a whole new level back then if the May (Male) December (Female) relationship was seen or known about. Trust me I lived it first-hand. Fell in love with a woman 13 years older than me. She wasn’t a “MILF,” until the next year when our daughter was born. The “Cattiest,” of all those who didn’t agree or like the relationship was my future wife’s own sister. That’s why to this day I fight for equality in any relationship status, be it with a man and woman or same-sex couples. More than once I had words with those who felt it was wrong somehow for two people to be in love despite an age gap. What consenting adults choose to do together is their business and not fodder for the gossip mill. For those 8 women about to appear on “MILF Manor,” more power to you ladies. I just hope the notoriety and the sure-to-follow harassment don’t change any of you. As for those who still “judge,” the women do us all a favor and join me in not watching the show.
