After ending the season with a blowout loss to that team we hate with the O in its name the Michigan Wolverines find themselves in the 2018 Peach Bowl. Four players and counting have made the choice to protect their bodies and NFL futures by not playing in the game Rasahan Gary, Devin Bush Jr, running back Karan Higdon and Offensive linemen Juwann Bushell-Beatty all will sit out the game versus the Florida Gators. As is always the way in football it’s next man up and a chance to see some younger players get some run in a major bowl game. On the plus side, everyone who loves this program is happy to hear Shea Patterson will be back under center in 2019, along with a large chunk of the offense.
This won’t be the first time these two teams have faced off and the Wolverines want to end the season on a high note and also wash that dirt taste out of their mouths they got from that other team we won’t name. From the start of the year against Notre Dame until “The Game” we saw this team grow weekly and make it known throughout the Big Ten and nation that this program was heading the right way. When you get blown out the way we did it’s easy to forget all the progress you made and goals reached. The Peach Bowl is a chance for the players, coaches and fans to remember that. The Gators had an up and down year but want to do the very same thing, end on a high note and carry this to next season so this won’t be an easy game by any means. The Gators also have a full roster a hot QB in Felipe Franks who tossed 23 touchdowns vs 6 picks.
Having lost 4 out of their last 5 bowl games the Wolverines want to change that and have 2 L’s under coach Harbaugh. We want good vibes heading into 2019 and it starts in Atlanta. This will be the 2nd time in 4 seasons they face off in a bowl game. I have been a fan of this defense all season long and want nothing more than to see them flying around and doing what they do. I am sure Coach Brown has been licking his chops for a chance to have his unit back on the field. An 11 win season for the first time since 2011 would be a nice end to the year. The keys to the game are:
*Pressure Franks
* Run the ball to control the clock
*Win the turnover battle
* Make the big play when you have the chance.
All in all, I expect the Wolverines to win this game using the formula that worked almost all year, enjoy it Happy New Year to you and yours. And as always GO BLUE!
