The Patriots have found a future franchise quarterback in Mac Jones. No, they are not trading him for an established quarterback. If that was the case, they should’ve just kept Brady who they had for 20 years. This notion from Felger and Mazz, Colin Cowherd, among other media members want to trade Jones is dumb when they had the solution. It’s too late now the Patriots chose to go into a different direction and now have a rookie quarterback who has a promising future for the franchise. He even has the chance to be Joe Burrow who is playing in the AFC Championship game this weekend. For some reason people don’t want to see that.
Joe Burrow has a talented wide receiver in Ja’Marr Chase that Mac Jones is missing. Kendrick Bourne isn’t a number one receiver neither is Jakobi Meyers. The Patriots are missing a Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Wes Welker, Troy Brown type. One that can get open over the middle and gain yardage after the catch. Chase was college teammate of Burrow’s at LSU so why not bring a college teammate of Mac Jones on the Patriots. Who knows you could have the same result next year that Burrow has with Chase this year.
Mac Jones Is Comparable To Joe Burrow
Patriots’ fans should be glad that Burrow is playing in the AFC Championship game because it means of what is to come for Mac Jones. He has the right coaching in Belichick and the willingness to win at all costs. According to playerprofiler.com Mac Jones is comparable to Joe Burrow so be excited Patriots fans of what’s to come and ignore what the local and national media is saying. Jones is the pure pocket passer who can get the ball out quickly and find the open receiver. Right now, Burrow has the stronger arm but it’s not something Jones can’t work on. He definitely has time to learn and grow with the Patriots and being in the NFL.
Long time Patriots offensive line coach who is now retired Dante Scarnecchia spoke to NBC Sports Boston earlier this month to evaluates Mac’s year.
In future articles I’ll take a look at who the Patriots should draft at receiver this year for Mac Jones. In the meantime, don’t listen to Felger and Mazz who say they would trade Jones for Russell Wilson or an Aaron Rodgers it’s not happening. Should’ve kept Brady if that was the case then drafted another rookie quarterback. Like I said at the beginning of this article too late now, Jones is the guy face it. He will get better and continue to grow into the Patriots organization.
