WNBA Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie added to her career highlights by winning the BIG3 Championship and is also going to be the first female athlete ever to be honored with a statute outside Staples Center.
“Lisa Leslie is going to get a statue outside of Staples Center. The Sparks and AEG will talk about the specifics soon but it will be the 11th in Star Plaza and the first honoring a female athlete. It will be the first statue of a WNBA player outside the home arena of a WNBA team.”, Arash Markazi – Los Angeles Times.
“I felt Lisa Leslie deserved a statue outside of STAPLES Center…”, continued Arash Markazi, “So I asked the Los Angeles Sparks and AEG about it and they both agreed she does. They will discuss partnering on her statue as well as extending the Sparks’ lease to play at Staples Center.”
BIG3 league founders set the table when they gave Nancy Lieberman and Lisa Leslie the opportunity to be head coaches in their league.
Not even mentioning that the players from both teams – which Lieberman and Leslie both led to championships!, are men high quality-character and vision as well as the BIG3 founders.
At this moment history is knocking on the NBA’s front door and all it takes one, Branch Rickey type visionary owner to answer the knock and let history in as he did to Major League Baseball.
“Lisa Leslie deserves a statue at Staples Center, and she should get one…What a great…tribute! Congrats Lisa! BIG3 will contribute to the cost of the statue!”, Jeff Kwatinetz.
