When it comes to sports, I live by one quote, “ You are entitled to your set of opinions, you aren’t entitled to your own set of facts.” I understand that “fanboys” will attack LeBron James no matter what but, the evidence is clear. There has never been a more consistent player in the history of basketball.
Below is a list of NBA legends and their stats at the end of their careers:
- Michael Jordan last season in Wash… 20 points per game, 36 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 45% FG.
- Tim Duncan Last season in SA… 8.6 points per game, 7.6 rebounds, 48% FG.
- Shaquille O’Neil last season in Bos… 9.2 points per game, 4.8 rebounds.
- Kobe Bryant’s last 2 season in LA… 23-78 record, 19 points per game, 4.5 rebounds. 4.0 assists, 36% FG.
James is 37 years old, he is averaging 26 points per game, 8.6 rebounds, 6.6 assist, and shooting 52% from the floor. The older he gets the more efficient he becomes.
The argument used as to why Jordan is a better player than LeBron is a simple one, Jordan has 6 NBA Championships and never lost a series in the NBA Finals. That argument can’t be the end all in the discussions. Jerry West was 1-8 in the NBA Finals. Steve Kerr has 5 NBA Championships. Does not mean Kerr was a better player. By the same rational, Robert Horry has 7 championships, is her better than Jordan? Of course not.
Another argument is LeBron played for 3 teams chasing a ring.
- Shaq played for 6 teams.
- Kevin Durant played for 3 teams.
- Kevin Garnett played for 3 teams.
- Charles Barkley played for 3 teams.
- Kawhi Leonard played for 3 teams.
He wasn’t chasing the ring, he earned them. He carried his teams to the title. He was the best player on Miami, Cleveland and Los Angeles. That is whey he won 4 Finals MVP Awards. Only Jordan has more.
If you are an owner of a company you want your employees to be reliable and consistent. If you get married you want your partner to be reliable and consistent. That is all anyone can ask. You are entitled to your own set of opinions but you aren’t entitled to is your own set of facts. The facts are clear…There has never been a player who has dominated and been more consistent in the NBA then James. That is fact.
