The second week of the Karen Read re-trial was a victory for the defense. Bob Alessi skillfully challenged the Commonwealth’s expert, Ian Wiffin, regarding John O’Keeffe’s final movements at 34 Fairview Road. Additionally, the defense highlighted a Google search conducted by Jen McCabe at 2:27 AM, which included the phrase “how long to die in the cold.”
Ian Wiffin confirms Karen Read Didn’t hit John O’Keeffe
Wiffin claimed that John O’Keeffe took over eighty steps after being dropped off by Karen Read, suggesting he may have ended up at Brian Albert’s house. Wiffin acknowledged this possibility during questioning by Bob Alessi. Below is a Tweet from Ted Daniel, a reporter from Boston 25.
RA: according to your report, the phone of John O’Keefe could be in the house, correct?

The other thing Alessi exposed Ian Wiffin was the phone temperature. Wiffin did a study by putting a phone in a freezer and the temperature went down substantially below freezing John O’Keeffe’s phone never went below freezing in a 18 degree blizzard in January. Also, because Ian Wiffin is from Canada he didn’t know what freezing was in Fahrenheit which is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit . He uses Celsius in Canada so the Commonwealth expert didn’t even know what freezing was. Don’t you think that would be good especially in this case? Below is from an article from Turtleboy Aidan Kearny
Whiffin didn’t know what freezing temperature in Fahrenheit is.
Ian Wiffin should’ve been a client for Brian Walshe
Alessi exposed Wiffin during the Google search at 2:27 AM. In the first trial, Wiffin stated that McCabe only searched for “how long to die in the cold” at 6:23 and 6:24, but those searches were not deleted. The Cellebrite report indicated that Jen McCabe deleted the Google search at 2:27. Wiffin claimed that similar tabs were open, offering excuses for why the Cellebrite report displayed that information.
Brian Walshe Googled “how to get rid of a body” after murdering his wife, and this case was investigated by the same former trooper involved in the Karen Read case. However, Walshe had no connections to law enforcement, which ultimately resulted in him not getting away with his crime. In contrast, McCabe managed to have her Google search removed from the Cellebrite report following a software update, likely due to her brother-in-law being a Boston police officer. Below is an article from Turtleboy, authored by Aidan Kearney, detailing Wiffin’s testimony regarding the Google search.
If you are related to police officers, the company might delete Google searches for you. However, if you are an outsider with no connections to law enforcement, you are left to fend for yourself. Wiffin’s testimony confirms this.
Karen Read Didn’t Say “I hit him”
Next, Jennifer McCabe took the stand, and Alan Jackson pointed out inconsistencies in her story. She claimed that Karen Read told the police, “I hit him,” three times in 2022. Instead, she originally stated that Karen said, “Could I have hit him or did I hit him?”
On the morning of January 29th at 5:07 AM, McCabe called Nicole Albert, and the call lasted for 38 seconds. Although McCabe doesn’t remember making that call, Karen mentioned in a documentary that Jennifer did indeed contact Nicole. When Jennifer called Karen back, she informed her that Nicole said John never went into the house, which confused Karen because she had dropped him off there the night before. Hopefully, that clip from Dateline will be shown.
Now, Jennifer claims that during the 4:53 AM phone call on January 29th, Karen told her she had cracked her taillight. Jennifer seems to have changed her story because there is video evidence of Karen backing out of John’s driveway and hitting his car with her taillight after the phone call with Jennifer. Changing the story like this raises suspicion.
Text Chain Proves They Were Hoping For Karen Read to Plead Out
Additionally, Jennifer McCabe sent text messages regarding WBZ News at D and E Pizza in Canton, which is owned by Chris Albert, the brother of Brian Albert. In a text chain involving Jennifer, Matt McCabe, Brian Albert, and Nicole Albert, Matt McCabe instructed, “Tell them the guy never went into the house,” referring to Chris stating that John O’Keeffe never entered Brian Albert’s house. Brian Albert responded with, “Exactly.” If John O’Keeffe never went into the house, why would they need to send a reminder text? It doesn’t make sense.

Before Karen Read was arrested, Matt McCabe sent a text to the group saying, “If she pleads out, it will end the fights; it will be an episode.” Karen was arrested just three hours later.
What these individuals fail to realize is that at that moment, neither David Yannetti nor Karen knew she was being set up. This was before the Steve Scanlon tip, which indicated that John’s injuries did not match being hit by a car. That tip came the day after Karen was arraigned.
Jen denied the Google search
Jen denied conducting a Google search at 2:27 AM for “How long does it take to die in the cold?” Brian Walshe should have known that the police would have deleted that Google search for him. In the dash cam video, it appears that McCabe is speaking to the police the entire time, and when she goes to wake up Brian and Nicole Albert, the dog is nowhere to be found. So, where is the dog? Additionally, Brian Albert, a first responder, never came out of the house, even though a neighbor next door saw what was happening and took pictures.
Karen Read and Turtleboy call Jen McCabe the quarterback.
Turtleboy and Karen Read have both stated that McCabe is acting as the quarterback in this situation. She was speaking to the police, was in Kerry Roberts’ ear, and was coordinating the timeline and interviews with State Police from her house. When the FBI visited McCabe’s home, she initially denied her identity but later apologized and said she had only called Kerry Roberts and her husband, Matt. However, she also contacted Brian Albert, Peggy O’Keeffe, and the District Attorney’s office.
McCabe claims to have seen Karen Read in front of Brian Albert’s house that night, but this was after John had been dropped off. Karen had dropped John off near the mailbox, allowing him to walk up the driveway and enter through the side door. Therefore, when McCabe texted John O’Keeffe, he was already inside the house. McCabe then claims to have seen Karen Read move slightly closer to the flagpole, but at no point did she witness a collision or see a man on the front lawn; the reason being that he was already inside.
Next week appears to be fully booked with full days of testimony. We may get more valuable witness statements, especially since not one person leaving that house reported seeing John O’Keeffe on the front lawn.
