Karen Read is charged with the murder of Boston Police Officer John O’Keeffe. She is accused of hitting him outside 34 Fairview Road at a house party shortly after midnight on January 29, 2022. No one saw or heard a car crash that night, and not a single doorbell camera captured any signs of her backing into John. Furthermore, nobody reported seeing a body on the front lawn after leaving the house long after Karen had already departed. John wasn’t discovered until the next day, after additional snow had fallen, when Karen, along with Jen McCabe and Kerry Roberts, noticed him right away.
Karen Read Still Claims Her Innocence
For three years, Karen Read has had one of the best defense teams available, and the Free Karen Read movement has gained international attention. Typically, in criminal cases, the families and friends of the victim speak out to the media while the defense side remains quiet. However, this case is different; the Alberts and McCabes have not spoken at all about what happened that night to their friend, while Karen Read is eager to share her side. Why is that? She insists she has nothing to hide.
Karen Read Has No Problem Doing Interviews
Karen Read claims she saw John O’Keeffe walk into the front door of the house that night. She looked down briefly, and when she looked up again, he was gone. When she tried calling him and received no answer, she slowly pulled away. People who arrived after Karen have claimed they never saw anyone get hit or lying in the snow after she left. This raises questions about how that could be possible.
The defense has uncovered new evidence that was not shared with them during the first trial. This includes a video of Brian Higgins on the phone at the Canton Police Department at 1:30 a.m. on January 29, as well as the Sallyport tape showing Karen Read’s SUV entering the Canton Police station on that same date. The defense argues that they should have been shown all relevant evidence before the first trial, not during or after the mistrial.
For someone accused of murder, Karen is unafraid to speak out. In contrast, look at other high-profile cases, such as Scott Peterson and Brian Walshe—when people have something to hide, they tend to stay silent. So which side has something to hide? It seems unlikely to be the defense.
Karen Read Will Talk While The Other Side Doesn’t
From the start, the case appears biased. The McCabes and Alberts initially intended to blame a snowplow driver until Karen stated that she had damaged her taillight from backing into John’s car in his driveway. However, the Canton Police did not find any taillight remnants during their 6 a.m. search of 34 Fairview Road on January 29, despite using a snowblower. It was only later, after the police had possession of Karen’s Lexus and Michael Proctor’s search team investigated the property, that taillight pieces were discovered. Proctor has also been accused of bias due to texts that were revealed during the first trial about Karen Read.
As the case heads into another trial date of April 1st it’s going to be interesting to see what happens one thing is for certain though she won’t be convicted. She didn’t do it.
