Josh McDaniels May Be The Best Offensive Coordinator

No doubt Josh McDaniels will go down as the best offensive coordinator of all time. The way he develops quarterbacks and fits the game to what they do best is all-time. He started with Tom Brady, going to Super Bowl after Super Bowl, and then Drake Maye, a different-style quarterback, going to another Super Bowl. The now assistant coach of the year is the most experienced assistant planning for this game in the league. Advantage Patriots. The Seattle Seahawks’ offensive coordinator is already focused on the Raiders job, so advantage Patriots.

No doubt the Patriots could’ve hired McDaniels with Jerod Mayo, but that wasn’t in the cards. The Krafts wanted Vrabel and McDaniels all along, but they already promised the job to Mayo and gave him zero help. McDaniels not only helped Tom Brady and Drake Maye; he also went on to help Mac Jones in 2021 and won games with Cam Newton.

After Josh McDaniels took the Raiders job after the 2021 season, Mac Jones was ruined by Bill Belichick, Matt Patricia, and Joe Judge. Mac Jones was on NFL Network this week and said “thanks, Josh” in reference to him leaving and Mac Jones being disowned by the Patriots. Now McDaniels has come back and adapted to Drake Maye’s play style, allowing Drake to do what he likes to do. McDaniels realizes that Drake is more athletic than Brady was and can run. McDaniels said. “For Drake, it was about the little things. When you go from your first to second year, you usually make a lot of progress and understand the value of taking care of the football. Understand the value of protecting yourself as a runner. I think Drake has really embraced the formula that coach Vrabel has put in front of us and said, this is how we’re going to win.

The Patriots have the coaching experience more so than the Seahawks do. Vrabel won and McDaniels was the offensive coordinator when the Patriots beat Seattle in the 2014 Super Bowl. Seattle maybe the better team on paper but the Patriots have the better experience and quarterback. I’d take Drake Maye any day over seeing ghosts Sam Darnold.
