JuJu Smith-Schuster singed in free agency who was supposed to replace Jakobi Meyers. However, yesterday he seemed lost in the offense and was benched of a crucial play to end the game. Instead the ball went to Boutte on 4th down and he couldn’t get two feet in bounds. Meanwhile ex Patriot and Mac Jones friend Jakobi Meyers caught two touchdowns yesterday for the Raiders. So that begs the question why is Jakobi Meyers on the Raiders and Smith-Schuster on the Patriots?
It’s simple it has zero to do with football. The reason Meyers is not a Patriot is because he talked shit about the offensive operation last year and backed Mac Jones. Smith-Schuster has a bad knee but came off a Super Bowl win with the Chiefs so Belichick can use that to Kraft to say Smith-Schuster is an upgrade over Meyers. But is he though? I really don’t think so. Meyers and Mac had great chemistry. Mac’s best receiver right now is Kendrick Bourne not Smith-Schuster. JuJu had a ball go right through his hands at one point yesterday.
Jakobi Meyers and JuJu Smith-Schuster got the same contract
Meyers got a three-year $33 million deal with the Raiders. Smith-Schuster got 3 years and $25 million with a $7,900,000 signing bonus. Smith-Schuster and Meyers pretty much got the same deal. So why is Belichick such a tool and would rather sign a player that is confused with the offense in Smith-Schuster than a player has great chemistry with the quarterback? Because Smith-Schuster will play ball with Bill while Meyers didn’t. Best for the team my ass that move was what was best for Belichick.
Here was Belichick’s answer when asked Sunday why Smith-Schuster wasn’t on the field yesterday at the end of the game.
Jakobi Meyers would’ve been in the game late had he still been on the Patriots
Jakobi Meyers would’ve been in the game yesterday in the fourth quarter hands down. They probably pick up the first down with Jakobi Meyers in there and potentially win the game. If you don’t think the reason Meyers is gone because of him talking bad about the offense and sticking by Mac Jones here’s this quote from January.
Meanwhile, when Smith-Schuster signed his contract he admitted to not throwing with Mac during the offseason.
Then Smith-Schuster went on vacation and celebrated his Super Bowl with the Chiefs while Mac was at local fields working with other teammates. It’s hands down Smith-Schuster’s fault he isn’t ready to go. No excuse why he wasn’t on the field to at the end of the game on Sunday. That’s not what you want in your supposedly number one wide receiver to replace Meyers who basically got the same contract with the Raiders. At the end of the day, it’s just another example of Belichick being stubborn his way or the highway to some degree.
