The holidays are fast approaching and you’re still not sure what to give the men in your life? Don’t worry. Here’s a holiday gift guide for the gamers to help you along the way.
Stocking Stuffers/Low-cost items:
Xbox Elite Controller Replacement Paddles: ~$21.99-$29.99
Gaming controllers can get pretty beat up over the course of ownership. If the gamer in your life has an Xbox Elite controller, chances are there’s a need for a backup set of fresh/new replacement attachments for it, unless it’s already new. The buttons may be worn and beat up over time. To make the controller feel like new again, try replacement buttons to get him back in the game. Not sure if he’s got an Elite controller? Check the back of the controller. if there are 4 buttons, you’re on the right path. Grab it here.
Playstation Controller Charger: ~$14.99-$29.99
Nothing is more frustrating to a gamer than when you finally sit down to game, and you forgot to plug in your controller. It’s as bad as getting to the gym and realizing your headphones are dead. Sure, you can tether to the console with the cord, but more than likely that means you’re sitting closer than you’d like and aren’t enjoying the experience as much. You can get a docking station for the controllers and have a nice neat stand to put them on that will charge the device as well. Grab it here.
Mid-Range Gifts
New Controllers: $59.99-$69.99
Whether you’re on Xbox or Playstation, there’s never a bad time to get a new controller, especially if you have a custom one that matches a favorite game. Unless your gamer has 3 to 4 already, having a backup controller that can be on standby in case their main controller dies, is clutch. Finding one outside of the normal black or white may earn you bonus points. Getting on their website and customizing one, especially for them would really be a home run. Grab some here.
External Hard Drive:~$79.99-$119.99+
Video games are getting larger with every iteration of consoles. Low-storage games are a thing of the past and any quality game is going to be 45GB-65GB meaning consoles fill up quickly. Both Sony and Microsoft make external hard drives that can add an additional 2TB for $80. There are also larger ones out there that can add anywhere from 3TB to 8TB depending on what you want to spend. Save them the hassle of constantly trying to download games that fit their hard drive with an external one. Look at some here.
Backbone One Mobile Gaming Controller $99.99
If you have a gamer who loves to play on his phone but doesn’t like the feel of not having a controller, then the Backbone controller is the perfect attachment. There are working versions for both Xbox and Playstation that allow you to have fun on your mobile device with a similar feel to console gaming.
Higher End Gifts
Premium Controller $129.99-$199.99
If you’re looking to get that one big gift your significant other might not splurge to buy themself, try an Xbox Elite controller or Playstation Dual Sense Edge. You can save a few bucks on an Elite controller by purchasing the cheaper option for $129.99 but it won’t come with the accessories and extra buttons. You can purchase them separately for $21.99 and save about $10-$15 fit your holiday budget is that tight, but you might as well buy the whole kit with a storage case for $179.99 if you can swing it. Sony offers their version with the Dual Sense Edge for $199.99
Playstation Portal $199.99
This one is the hot ticket item right now for Sony. Everyone loves the ability to game on the go and stream right from their PS5. Soon they’ll be adding cloud gaming so you no longer need your console to be on to enjoy the handheld. The Playstation Portal is very much Sony’s answer to the Nintendo Switch for your gamer on the go. Scoop one here.
Of course, if you’re still out of ideas, you can always turn on their console and see what they play. Search around for similar games and sneak one into your shopping cart. If none of those options work, gift cards might not offer the personal touch, but allowing them to buy whatever they want with no questions asked always saves the day. Happy shopping.
