Most men can be hard to shop for when it comes to the holidays. Whether it’s new tools, replacement socks for the ones he’s kept far too long, or he’s just one to buy the things he needs himself, they never make it easy. This holiday season, we’ll do some of the legwork for you. For the reader in your life, here are some of the better books for men that he may want to check out:
Sonny Boy: Al Pacino
Arguably one of the best actors in half a century, Al Pacino has been in some great films. From Scarface to Carlitos Way. From The Godfather franchise to Heat and everything in between. Al Pacino has been in some of the best films aimed to appeal to the male audience and more often than not can be named as one of their all-time favorites. Not only is Sonny Boy a great read for book lovers but also for the movie lovers that followed him along the way. Most memoirs are brief glimpses into a short window of celebrity status but Pacino has been there for 50+ years and finally is telling about it.
I Make My Own Rules: LL Cool J
This one is an older book but is a great fit for the hip-hop lover in your life. LL Cool J took hip-hop to a whole new level in the 80s blending a mix of rap and R&B to bring a whole new audience to the genre, before all that was a tale of hard times and struggles that play out on the pages of this book. From his early days of hip-hop to becoming a sex symbol, and eventually an actor, I Make My Own Rules was a hard book to put down.
Dungeon Crawler Carl: Matt Dinniman
Not every guy is a memoirs kind of reader. Some just like the goofy fun and adventure books. Insert Dungeon Crawler Carl here. A seven-book series that is set to become a television show, DCC is perfect for the gamer in your life who also likes to read. With classic D&D table-top and video game tropes it takes the reader on a wildly unique adventure filled with humor and wit. It will be perfect for any reader who enjoyed a Ready Player One type of experience.
The Witcher Series
If the guy in your life loves the video game adaptations or just has a man-crush on Henry Cavill and his portrayal of the character, then the Witcher books are the perfect gift no matter how many you start with. There are eight books in total but they’re fairly inexpensive as far as gifts go. If the disappointment in the Netflix series losing Cavil is a fresh wound despite him wanting to finish the story, then start with The Last Wish and go from there.
Greenlights: Matthew McConaughey
Yes, another memoir but another great read. McConaughey went from your typical rom-com actor to being in some of the better movies in recent memory. His memoir takes you through the choices and mistakes he made along the way as well as the journey into betting on himself. With an unorthodox lifestyle and an even more unorthodox way of telling a story, Greenlights is a simple yet effective view of seeing things from a whole different perspective.
Whether they’re a book series to stack together for hours of reading or a quick stocking stuffer to close out your holiday list, books will never go out of style for an avid reader. For more great gift ideas come back to TeamNBSmedia for all your reviews and entertainment needs.
