From 2011-2014, the Miami Heat went to 4 straight NBA Finals. They won 2 championships and they were the talk of the entire league. All that changed when LeBron James left South Beach and went back to Cleveland. Over the past 5 seasons, Miami has missed the playoffs 3 times. Erik Spoelstra hasn’t been passed the 2nd round of the playoffs without LeBron James in his lineup, all that is about to change.
The Toronto Raptors and the Miami Heat have been the two surprises in the NBA this season. The Heat are 35-18 and have a record of 22-3 at home. Jimmy Butler has proven to be one of the best off-season signings. He is averaging 20.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Butler has been the leader of this team on and off the court. The Heat have a great mix of veterans and young players who are thriving under Coach Spoelstra’s system.
Bam Adebayo: 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
Goran Dragic: 15. 9 points, 5 assists per game.
Kendrick Nunn: 15.8 points, 5 assists per game.
Tyler Hero: 13 points, 4 rebounds per game.
The Heat are shooting 37.9% from three point range, which is 2nd in the NBA and they are 2nd in true shooting percentage, (58.5).
Miami just acquired Andrew Iguodala and Jae Crowder, two wing players who can shoot the open three and play great defense.
The Heat are in the hunt to win the Eastern Conference. Coach Spoelstra should get votes for coach of the Year and Jimmy Butler could be the MVP of the league. With their young talent and savvy veterans, no one wants to play this team in a 7 game series. They will physically beat teams up, no matter who they play.
There is no longer a Lebron James hangover in South Beach. Pat Riley has got this team playoff ready.
Here comes the Heat.
