Over the past 2 seasons the Milwaukee Bucks finished the regular season as the No.1 seeded team in the Eastern Conference. In 2018, they lost to the Toronto Raptors, 4-2. Last season they were dominated by the Miami Heat and lost in 5 games. This is a team that needed to make changes, or they could have lost their superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
This off-season the Bucks added Jrue Holiday and Sam Merrill (the 60th overall pick in the 2020 Draft) in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, three future first-round picks, and two additional Draft pick swaps. Holiday is averaging 17.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game. More importantly, Holiday does something that Bledsoe could never do consistently, shoot the three-point shot. He can stretch the defense because he is shooting 39% from downtown.
Milwaukee picked up P.J. Tucker last month and he has made a world of difference. Tucker provides defensive toughness, and he is another player who can shoot the 3-point shot. Tucker guards the best player on the court now, leaving Antetokounmpo free to make steals and block shots.
The Bucks are a team that has improved drastically from last season to this year. They have toughness, three-point shooting and three legitimate scorers, in Holiday, Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton is averaging 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game.
The pieces are in place. Do not be surprised if Milwaukee comes out of the Eastern Conference and wins a title this season.
