The X below by Robert Griffin III is what happened in every part of Cowboys Nation after it was announced that the Dallas Cowboys had acquired Trey Lance from the San Francisco 49ers. My immediate response was this deal is great for the Cowboys. My second response was how does this impact the franchise?

Dallas Cowboys and Dak
The response of so many folks was how acquiring Trey Lance impacted Dak Prescott. Sorry, I wasn’t as concerned with Dak Prescott as so many other fans were. I was far more interested in the fact that the Dallas Cowboys acquired a 23-year-old quarterback who “could” impact results for the Dallas Cowboys. However, like most fans of the Dallas Cowboys, I waited for the inevitable moment of how this impacts Dak Prescott. I don’t think there’s an immediate impact on Dak.
If Dak Prescott struggles or gets injured the Dallas Cowboys now have a young quarterback who has the potential to make plays that even Cooper Rush can’t make for the Dallas Cowboys. That’s the immediate impact on Dak Prescott as far as acquiring Trey Lance.

As a bonus, we saw Dak play-calling ability last night in the final pre-season game against the Raiders. He’s pretty good as Will Grier in his final game as a Dallas Cowboy had a very good night. The impact on Dak Prescott’s next contract is what most fans are worried about. How that plays out is up to Stephen Jones.
Let’s stay real with the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott. They are discussing an extension for Prescott it only makes sense since the dead cap hit on Dak’s contract next season would be a huge hit against the salary cap. Getting an extension with Prescott would also allow the Cowboys the ability to trade him if need be.
That’s the real impact on Dak Prescott. Does he re-sign a new deal that could see him traded after?

Stephen Jones
I have despised the heir apparent to” Jerry’s World “for many years as you all know. However, the deals below have made me a believer that Stephen Jones gets what the Dallas Cowboys have needed for them to challenge for a Super Bowl run. When it became apparent that Trey Lance was available, Stephen Jones upped the ante on offers for Trey Lance from the Buffalo Bills Detroit Lions, and the Baltimore Ravens. Those teams all seem set at QB yet they were also interested in acquiring Trey Lance?

Let’s not also forget that Stephen Jones has locked up many key players as safeties Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson are safely Cowboys along with finally addressing the need for DTs in getting Mazi Smith in the first round at the draft along with trading for Jonathan Hankins.
Despite his lack of courage in dealing with Dak Prescott’s first extension and the mess that was Ezekiel Elliott’s contract, it appears that Stephen Jones has finally caught on to the modern NFL.
So despite the Cowboys promising they would draft a quarterback in the last draft class, they instead acquired one who is only 23 years old. Let’s not forget the Los Angeles Rams drafted Stetson Bennett who is 26 years old.
Trey Lance
Yes, many feel the San Francisco 49ers made a mistake when they drafted Trey Lance after dealing away three first-round picks and moving up to draft Trey Lance with the third pick three years ago. I believe what the Niners were doing was wise for them at the time. They had Jimmy Garoppolo and needed a new quarterback who could step in and play if Jimmy G got injured again.
Things didn’t work out that way for Trey Lance he was the one who got injured in both seasons he was with the Niners. Certainly, the Niners and their fans were disappointed in that result.
Let’s not write off Trey Lance I said earlier the Buffalo Bills were interested in getting Trey Lance as were the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams are set at quarterback.

So Trey Lance comes into an organization that wants him and he has the opportunity to become a quarterback who can make a positive impact. Not too bad a deal for Lance is now a Dallas Cowboy!! I don’t care that he went to North Dakota State, nor do I care he had a limited amount of snaps as a quarterback. I do care that Trey Lance is now in a great place with the Dallas Cowboys.
