#12 Oregon State Beavers vs #2 Houston Cougars:
Oregon State was picked to finish last in the PAC-12 this season. They have exceeded all expectation by making it to the Elite 8. Oregon State’s win marks the first time the program has advanced to the Elite Eight since 1982 and it ties for the lowest seed ever to make it to the Elite Eight, joining Missouri, which did it in 2002. Ethan Thomas paces the Beavers scoring 15.8 points per game. Oregon has won 9 of their last 10 games. Houston defeated a good Syracuse Orangemen team, 64-46. Houston’s Quentin Grimes is averaging 18 points and 6 rebounds per game. He can shoot from long range and take the ball to the basket off the dribble. Justin Gorman has 13 points and 10 rebounds against Syracuse and Dejon Jarreau had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.
Prediction:
Houston’s experience, talent and coaching should be enough to win a close, low scoring, game.
Cougars 64- Beavers 59.
