Eliot Wolf is paying the Patriots that are about to be on a second contract. His latest is Rhamondre Stevenson. Stevenson singed a 4 year $36 million contract the other day. Stevenson, the best running back on the team just got himself paid. What Eliot Wolf has done this off-season is what Belichick would never have done pay his own players he drafted. Eliot Wolf is though and it’s great to see.
Eliot Wolf brings The Packer Way
Part of the Packer Way is to draft and develop it’s own players. That is something that was missed in New England when you had the greatest quarterback of all time. Now, that the Patriots are just like everybody else they have to switch gears and take a new approach at building a winning franchise.
Here is Jerod Mayo talking about Stevenson before he singed his extension.
With Stevenson having his third offensive coordinator in three years I think anybody is better than Matt Patricia. Alex Van Pelt brings a new offense to the Patriots and plans to use Stevenson a lot.
I think Stevenson is relieved that there is a change in leadership when it comes to Eliot Wolf running things now. Belichick had lost his ways on the offensive side of the ball these last few years. Wolf seems to be doing things to improve the offense for the long term. They only drafted one defensive player in the draft so that should tell you all you need to know.
Former running back Damien Harris called out Bill Belichick and how he handled the offense these last few years.
Then Belichick went on and brought Mat Patricia and Joe Judge to run things that didn’t work either. But if you questioned it you were wrong.
If anybody had anything to say about it, it was [met with] a very, very quick, swift, ‘Shut the f–k up. I know what I’m doing.’ And that’s it,” he said (h/t Chad Graff of The Athletic).
Would Stevenson be here if Belichick was still the head coach? Nope, Stevenson was Mac’s asset just like Damien Harris and was pissed at how Belichick handled the offensive side of the ball. Belichick would’ve held that against Stevenson and traded him or something.
Eliot Wolf and Jerod Mayo are running the show now and the walls are fresh around the stadium. It’s more relaxed and a different vibe, and not the hard ass vibe that was there.
