Mac Jones is So Long New England after he got ruined by Bill Belichick. Now, the Patriots turn the page to their third overall draft pick Drake Maye. The Patriots look to develop the quarterback the right way drafting offense for almost the entire draft by general manager Eliot Wolf. Drake Maye didn’t have everything made for him he made the talent better around him in North Carolina. However, that doesn’t mean to not do anything on offense. Wolf did that with drafting Polk and and Javon Baker. Eliot Wolf wanted someone that could lift the players around him to be better. He thinks Maye can do that because he did in college.
That’s what made Tom Brady so great by lifting up the players around him to be better. Drake Maye won’t be Brady but it will be nice to have a quarterback that can do that again. With Mac he never got the chance because Belichick didn’t surround him with anything, at least Wolf did with Maye and not draft a kicker or someone on special teams.
Now, I know there are some people that don’t understand why Kraft fired Belichick. Whether people like it or not it’s because how he handled the quarterback situation. This time around Kraft believes that there will be no ego’s with Mayo and Wolf and they’ll develop Maye the right way. Wolf and Mayo also want to prove that to Belichick.
Drake Maye Just Wants To Win A Super Bowl
Maye’s college coach Mack Brown said this of him after Maye was drafted by the Patriots.
“You don’t even know how lucky you are, but great times are ahead,” added Brown.
All Maye cares about is winning a Super Bowl. Both of his brothers won national championships in college and his father was a standout quarterback at UNC.
The Patriots have been missing that in a quarterback because of what Belichick did the last few seasons. Alex Van Pelt and T.C. McCartney will help him be the quarterback he can be. They won’t be leaving after this season for head coaching jobs. They aren’t head coach material. They are career offensive coaches and that’s why they’ll be here for a ling time. I think he sits this season with Jacoby being the starting quarterback while Joe Milton is the new backup. Zappe won’t make it on the roster. His arrogant attitude might not fit what the Patriots are trying to do. Here is this from Mike Reiss last week
