The fourth season of Dana White’s Contender Series was originally scheduled to kick off back in June, but the COVID-19 outbreak caused to be postponed due to the Pandemic.
Now it will premiere August 4 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, run through September, and possibly into October.
Originally it was named Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. The word Tuesday has been dropped from the title, but the objective remains the same.
The goal of the series is for White to scout talent for the UFC. Similar to The Ultimate Fighter series, none of the fighters involved have existing UFC contracts, so this is their shot to impress The Boss.
The return of the series means that there will be a lot of fight announcements and contract signings involving UFC hopefuls and understandably it is difficult to keep up with all of the transactions, but we’ll give you a compilation of all the fighters and fights known for the upcoming season.
After that, you are on your own!
Season four is scheduled for 10 Tuesday night episodes, with the first taking place on Tuesday, August 4, and a lineup of new and returning athletes will be looking for their chance to impress Dana White and make their UFC dreams come true by competing to earn a spot on the UFC roster.
Confirmed bouts for Episode 1 of Season 4:
Light heavyweight
Ty Flores vs. Dustin JacobyLightweight
Ken Cross vs. Damonte RobinsonLightweight
Uros Medic vs. Mikey GonzalezFlyweight
Luis Rodriguez vs. Jerome RiveraLightweight
Jordan Leavitt vs. Luke Flores
All of them have tough stories to tell, but personally I will be rooting for Jerome Rivera. He has faced lots of adversity, which derailed his opportunities and Tuesday might his last fight.
“It would just be a dream come true,” Rivera said, “It would just really feel like all this hard work, all those hours spent in the gym, all the hours away from my family and friends, it would just give me that sense of accomplishment. Like, ‘OK, this was all for a good reason.’ Even if I don’t get to the UFC, I told everybody, like, if this is my last fight on (Tuesday), I’m just very thankful for this.”
