The New Orleans Saints manhandled the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. I should have remembered that they don’t play well in early kickoffs. I also hated hearing they gave away the football to begin the game. You’re at home, and you deferred the football. I wouldn’t say I like Belichick’s idea of the double score: get some points at the end of the half and start with the ball to start the second half. The shockingly 0-2 Baltimore Ravens are following up for the Dallas Cowboys. I have no idea which team shows up for this game.
DALLAS COWBOYS OFFENSE VERSUS BALTIMORE RAVENS DEFENSE
Can the Baltimore Ravens defense stop Ceedee Lamb? They should be able to limit the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, which might be the key to this entire game. The Raven’s defense has plenty of talent, but stopping Lamb has been no easy task for any NFL defense.
They should not defer the football if the Dallas Cowboys win the coin toss. You don’t need to give the opponent the ball first, especially after watching what the Saints did to the Cowboys’ defense. The Saints have a perfect 15 scores on 15 offensive possessions. The Dallas Cowboys offense must set the tone early against the Ravens.
Mike McCarthy must use the offense to set the tone for this game. Since the Dallas Cowboys offense has been disappointing in both games, they must start this game well to succeed. This means they must move the ball downfield correctly, and that’s accept whatever the Baltimore Ravens defense gives them.
The Ravens must be questioning themselves after two straight losses. The only thing to do is put them on their heels right from the start of this game. You can’t have another struggle at home. This Texas Coast offense needs to start this game and hopefully score early. If this happens, the Baltimore Ravens defense will make more mistakes.
Dallas Cowboys Defense Versus Baltimore Ravens Offense
I have no idea why Mike Zimmer started the game using a zone defense. It led the Saints to score easily against the Dallas Cowboys’ defense, and as I said earlier, the Dallas Cowboys’ defense was unsuccessful in stopping the New Orleans Saints’ offense.
I should be used to seeing the Dallas Cowboys’ magical mystery tour of the lack of defense displayed against the New Orleans Saints. They lacked any semblance of the defense that tore apart the Cleveland Browns.
Many are shocked that the Baltimore Ravens are 0-2. The Las Vegas Raiders defense stopped the Ravens just enough to win on Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens stopped the ground game wholeheartedly but could not stop Davante Adams or Brock Bowers.
I have no idea which team will show up on Sunday. Will it be the same group of guys who destroyed the Cleveland Browns, or will we get another lackluster effort? The Dallas Cowboys will be tested severely to stop Lamar Jackson and his receivers. Of course, the other factor is stopping Derrick Henry.
If the Baltimore Ravens run the ball correctly between Lamar Jackson and Henry, this will be another long afternoon of football. Stopping the Baltimore Ravens is no easy task, and add in the receiving corps and the Dallas Cowboys. The good old days of intercepting the ball and causing fumbles will be needed.
MY PREDICTION
As I wrote about in my season preview, I have the Baltimore Ravens winning this game by a score of 27-17. If my doubts regarding the lack of attacking an opponent to start games off correctly, which means you take the damn football, Mike McCarthy, to start the game, doesn’t happen, then I have no idea how badly the score will turn out to be.
I am not blaming anyone except the two coaches for the horrible game against the New Orleans Saints. This Dallas Cowboys team needs to play a much better game than they did on Sunday, but I can’t believe the Baltimore Ravens would fall to 0-3.
