From the game’s opening drive against the Arizona Cardinals when Josh Dobbs juked out Micah Parsons, the Dallas Cowboys sucked all game long today. Micah Parsons was attempting to sack Dobbs, I get that he took the wrong line to attack Dobbs, who escaped for a big play. The game was downhill from there for the Dallas Cowboys. Normally I don’t do game recaps but this game deserves one.
Dallas Cowboys Defense
From that play onward the Arizona Cardinals were able to outmaneuver a Cowboys defense for the entire game except for two drives in the second half. They ran the ball on the Cowboys like they were running through Swiss cheese. It had nothing to do with missing Trevon Diggs either. The Dallas Cowboys outsmarted themselves? Or was it the Arizona Cardinals were ready for what Dallas wanted to do with their offense? Sorry Cowboys Nation but Dan Quinn got out-coached today.
The Dallas Cowboys defense was pitiful out there today on a day when they knew the Cowboys’ offensive line was missing three starters. It was unacceptable to see them give up over 200 yards of rushing. James Cooner had 98 yards and averaged 7 yards a carry against the Dallas Cowboys. James Conners is a decent running back but to see him average 7 yards a carry was simply annoying. He’s not Breece Hall or Dalvin Cook and certainly isn’t Saquon Barkley the three running backs this same Cowboys defense manhandled in the first two games of the season.
For me, the Dallas Cowboys had decided for themselves that they could take the Cardinals who entered the game with a 0-2 record as easy as taking candy from a baby. This has happened so often with the Dallas Cowboys over the last 28 seasons and I am sick to death of seeing it happen!!!
Credit goes to the Cardinals coaching staff who did exactly what was called for to defeat the Dallas Cowboys. Once they knew the Cowboys weren’t going to stop them on the ground they kept up with the same plays over and over again.
Dallas Cowboys Offense
Hello Mike McCarthy?? What in the world was that play-calling all about today? You have three backups playing on the offensive line and you passed the ball way too early today. Now granted the backups weren’t spectacular at all as was to be expected but when you have three-fifths of your line down before the game ever started you should have been running the football and not with the two early inside runs you gave Tony Pollard on the opening drive.
The red zone offense was a nightmare yet again for the Dallas Cowboys and it’s unnecessary. You don’t get cute late and try to give Ceedee Lamb a carry on the second and goal play that McCarthy called. It was a typical ego that was the downfall of all coordinators at every level of football. You don’t get cute when you’re trailing in a game.
Some are complaining about the officiating as well. Well, that was dead wrong as it usually is when it comes to the Cowboys. Chuma Edoga had a nightmare of a day as the LT playing for Tyron Smith. Tyler Smith was in his first game back but even he had a hard time out on the field today. Simply put when the Cowboys had every reason to beat up on a depleted Arizona Cardinals defense they didn’t get the job done in any way shape or form.
Cowboys Hurt Themselves
Once again the Dallas Cowboys failed to take advantage of a weaker opponent. It’s been the same sad song that Cowboys Nation fans like myself have witnessed repeatedly time and again. Way to go Dallas Cowboys!! You refuse to do the job against these teams and I am sick and tired of seeing this nonsense happen every damn season.
The Arizona Cardinals are 1-2 thanks to your incompetence and complete disregard for what winning football teams do week in and week out. They play to win every game. They don’t come out against a weaker team and destroy themselves the way this team has done for almost 30 years in a row now.
Don’t use the injuries as an excuse either for this game being lost. Every team has injuries to deal with and just like the 2020 season I said the same thing and I said it last year when Dak Prescott was out as well. The Arizona Cardinals dealt with their injuries and outplayed the Dallas Cowboys in every aspect of the game today.
I said the coaching was pathetic and it was all game long. Just as I said it Sunday morning on Moving The Chains as seen on YouTube this morning. When coaches don’t get out of their own heads what should happen the players follow suit.
