Welcome to another soap opera courtesy of Jerry Jones and his son Stephen. Yet again both of these guys are out promoting the Dallas Cowboys brand, rather than taking the thing that matters most to the millions and millions of the fanbase called CowboysNation.
So the NFL owners’ meetings took place in Orlando and yet again both of the men in charge of the Dallas Cowboys were pontificating about the roster and how hard it would be to re-sign Ceedee Lamb and Micah Parsons and yet the even more valuable piece of the team Dak Prescott is entering the season without a contract extension? Oh, the joys of being a Dallas Cowboys fan.
In my previous article, I asked everyone if they took Jerry Jones seriously. The idea that the Jones were all in was always in doubt and I wrote about that simple fact in the previous article. What awed me at the owners’ meetings was the collective media hordes from Dallas didn’t challenge Stephen Jones when he said the Dallas Cowboys didn’t even have a draft board under construction. Excuse me? Since when do scouts don’t have a board constructed with less than a month to go before the NFL Draft?
So since the days of being “All In” Jerry Jones has now stated that the Dallas Cowboys will be “Do More With Less.” Followed up quickly by “We know what we’re doing,” Jerry you know what you’re doing? Well, what you’re doing Jerry and Stephen is angering the fanbase. A fanbase that is in its fourth generation of fans. millions of whom have no recollection of the glory days.
“I have been more all in before,” Jones said Sunday at the league owners meetings. “By any definition, and I have been more all in to make a run back to the line of scrimmage than I’ve been to run for 50 yards. It took more all in to just get back to the line of scrimmage than it did to run for 50 yards. Sometimes that is a bigger challenge.”
Even more noise from Jerry Jones “I would look at the last three seasons, and I would say from that, we know what we’re doing,” Jones said. “We’ve had excellent talent and have had enough to win 12 games. And I’ve had coaching that does correlate. Rather than start all over, my judgment is to take what we’ve got. Be as strategic about what we’re going to be doing in the next few years.
As I said in my previous article the lines were used liberally regarding needing money to re-sign Micah Parsons and Ceedee Lamb. Regarding Ceedee Lamb Jerry Jones said the club has to justify the type of money that Lamb can command and even hinted that the Dallas Cowboys could trade him away because at over 30 million a season, Lamb’s next contract will call for the team could sign five or six players for that type of capital.
There are rumors all over “The Star” in Frisco that many people are calling for Micah Parsons to be traded away from the team. I tend to agree with that sentiment. Despite his on-the-field contributions, I don’t like the way Parsons pursues rushing the quarterback instead of recognizing a running play is coming. He doesn’t use his eyes the right way. As I’ve said regarding Parsons his podcasting also bothers me greatly. Especially the way he says he understands everything. I’m pushing 60 years this December and Micah Parsons I don’t know EVERYTHING.
DAK PRESCOTT
So no contract talks are going on with Dak Prescott. Todd France his agent is laughing all the way to the bank as is Dakota Prescott. No the “No Trade Clause” in Dak’s current deal isn’t real either. It gives Prescott the right to refuse a trade offer to any team he deems unworthy of his talents. If the Dallas Cowboys don’t want to re-sign this is where the agent and Dak can say allow me to offer my services in a trade.
Now if the Jones aren’t considering bringing back Dak Prescott a serious trade offer then I don’t wait until training camp. I let Prescott go before the NFL Draft. If they don’t have plans for Dak Prescott sign Trey Lance to a deal and get this over with.
I said I was done with Prescott after the humiliating loss to the San Francisco 49ers. It was further hampered after the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Green Bay Packers. I would allow Prescott the offer today and let him sign with the Minnesota Vikings and take their first-round draft picks. Several other teams would be interested in Dak Prescott as well. Las Vegas Raiders in case you don’t want to face Prescott in the same league. Let someone else pay off his large contract.
I am just fine with getting rid of players unlike the Jones family who “Love Their Guys” I don’t care who the players are. I want a Super Bowl-winning Dallas Cowboys team as do the millions of their fans. So if Dak Prescott has to go I won’t shed any tears.
My bottom line is I wish the Dallas Cowboys to return to being a team that contends annually for the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl. So maybe the Jones listened and finally decided to get the “We Love Our Guys” approach out of their collective heads.
Until that happens the Dallas Cowboys will continue to confound their fanbase and Cowboys Nation you are going to continue being pretenders and this fourth generation of fans will have nothing to hope for. I’ve said it before I feel so badly for the young fans of the Dallas Cowboys and I will continue to hope and pray that one day in the near future the Dallas Cowboys make it back to being contenders. Because when all is and done these big-name players have failed time and again in the NFL playoffs.
