So after my recent article regarding the Dallas Cowboys, I have decided to do a new Dallas Cowboys roster. This will make NFL draft fanatics very happy. As I wrote before they trade Dak Prescott Ceedee Lamb and yes folks Micah Parsons is also leaving the Dallas Cowboys.
This way Jerry and Stephen Jones can start all over and dear lord the holes I can fill on the roster can happen. This won’t happen but I have decided to get rid of those three big contracts and if I were in charge of the Dallas Cowboys I believe in getting rid of players before they cost me too much money. We don’t need to have the “Big Name” players on this roster despite what the folks on social media say.
Unlike the good old days of the three Super Bowl titles when the Dallas Cowboys didn’t have to deal with the salary cap since Jerry Jones brought the system into the league the Cowboys have suffered for far too long. So let’s eliminate these three huge contracts and see what the Dallas Cowboys look like.
Dak Prescott
Say hello to Mark Davis and tell him Dak Prescott is available. It would end up being much like the trade the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams did when the Rams acquired Matthew Stafford. The Las Vegas Raiders sent the Dallas Cowboys their 13th pick in this draft along with the 44th pick and the Dallas Cowboys also get a fourth-round pick with the 112th pick. The Raiders also send the Dallas Cowboys their first-round pick next season a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft plus a second-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft. The Raiders also sent quarterback Aidan O’Connell to the Dallas Cowboys.
It’s a decent haul considering Dak is younger than Matthew Stafford was when he was traded.
Ceedee Lamb
Since Jerry uttered those words regarding Ceedee Lamb and his next potential contract I sent Lamb to the Pittsburgh Steelers and I got back the 20th pick in this draft and a third-round pick which is the 84th pick. This is similar to the deal the Philadelphia Eagles made with the Tennessee Titans for A.J. Brown. As much as I love Ceedee Lamb he fills a need the Steelers have since they traded Diontae Johnson.
Micah Parsons
As much as I would love to send Parsons out of the NFC I end up dealing Micah Parsons to the Atlanta Falcons. This means the Dallas Cowboys received the 8th pick in this NFL draft a second-round pick 43rd a third-round pick the 74th pick in this NFL Draft and a second and a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Atlanta needs pass rushers so Micah Parsons fits the bill on that count. Let some other team pay him more than the 30 million dollars he would command from Stephen Jones.
THE 2024 NFL DRAFT
So with the Cowboys owning the 8th 13th 20th and 24th pick in this year’s draft do you think I can find a new LT a new edge rusher and maybe even a center? No, I don’t want other quarterbacks like JJ McCarthy or Bo Nix who likely get picked in the first round of this draft. That’s why Aidan O’Connell was included in the Dak Prescott deal.
Where he is my new Dallas Cowboys roster after the 2024 NFL Draft
With the 8th pick in the NFL Draft, I select Jared Verse the solid edge rusher from Florida State. Do you know why I selected Verse? Because, unlike the last guy, Jared Verse understands how to stop the running game!!!
With the 13th selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected from Oregon State OT Taliese Fuaga, I have no doubt he can man the left tackle position and he will be a nightmare to play against.
With the 20th pick in the 2024 NFL draft, I selected the next level of OT/OG and drafted Tony Fautanu from the University of Washington.
With the 24th selection, I don’t care about the injury reports regarding Oregon center Jackson Power-Johnson I pick him in a heartbeat. The man’s size and power are evident and he would give us something that’s been missing Travis Frederick a huge imposing center who can create holes up the A gap.
With the 43rd pick, I selected DT T’Vondre Sweat from the University of Texas. The huge run-stopper the Dallas Cowboys need so badly. I hated the Mazi Smith pick last year and it was because Mazi Smith wasn’t a finisher at “That School Up North”
With the 44th pick here is Ceedee Lamb’s replacement, I select Xavier Legette from the Univesity of South Carolina. Legette is an excellent receiver and can become the new number-one target.
With the 56th selection the Dallas Cowboys get a new running back. Despite the cries and ballyhoo from Texas Longhorns fans, I do not select Johnathan Brooks. Instead, I select from the University of Tennessee RB Jaylen Wright. Sorry Longhorns fans I don’t need anyone recovering from another ACL surgery.
With the 74th pick the Dallas Cowboys selected LB Junior Colson despite the school he attended. Colson indeed is another University of Michigan player but unlike Mazi Smith, this young man understands how to FINISH plays.
With the 84th selection the Dallas Cowboys selected safety Cole Bishop from the University of Utah. This young man is a killing machine, especially against the run.
With the 87th selection the Dallas Cowboys another CB this time from my University of Notre Dame Cam Hart. This player wasn’t tested much at Notre Dame because of his reputation from his previous seasons. Since Trevon Diggs might not be 100% to start the season Hart gives the Dallas Cowboys another solid boundary corner.
With the 112th selection, I stuck with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and selected RB Audric Estime who will be a perfect complement to Jaylen Wright.
So instead of just three picks in the top end of the NFL draft, I ended up getting nine selections in the 2024 NFL draft in the first three rounds and with the fourth round pick, I added an excellent running back.
This is exactly what I would do if I ran the Dallas Cowboys. Sadly Jerry and Stephen won’t do any of this.
