No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Cincinnati:
The Crimson Tide opened as a 13.5-point favorite against the Bearcats. Bryce Young became the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy. It is the 10th time a QB has won the award over the past 12 years. Young threw for 4,322 yards, completed 68% of his passes and had 47 total touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. Running back Bryan Robinson had 16 total touchdowns and wide receivers Jameson Williams and John Metchie had over 2500 receiving yards combined. This offense is the best in the country and Cincinnati must force turnovers if they want to slow them down.
Alabama’s defense has been Jekyll and Hyde all season long but, they could be peaking at the right time. Will Anderson Jr. Had 15.5 sacks on the season. This is a unit that can put pressure on the quarterback and force turnovers. Their team speed is as good as any roster in the country.
The Bearcats are led by their dual threat quarterback, Desmond Ritter. He has done it all for this team, throwing for 30 touchdowns and running for 6 more. Running back, Jerome Ford is averaging 6.2 yards per carry and rushed for 19 touchdowns on the year.
Defensively, this team only game up 16 points per contest and they have 8 players to accumulate 40 tackles or more.
PREDICTION:
Cincinnati is undefeated, they have had a magical season. All that ends in a big way on New Year’s Eve. Alabama has too much speed on both sides of the ball. The Bearcats will lose big…
Alabama 45 Cincy 24
No. 2 Michigan vs. No. 3 Georgia
There is a reason why this game is on Primetime. Both teams are evenly matched and have similar styles. The Wolverines and Bulldogs want to dominant the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Run the ball 30 times a game and use the running game to set up the play action pass. Up until Georgia lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, 41-24, they were considered the best team in the nation. Michigan got the “monkey” off their big when the beat Ohio State, 42-27, for the first time under coach Jim Harbaugh. I expect both defenses to make big plays but look for Georgia to have a big offensive play in the 4th quarter.
Prediction:
Michigan manhandled Ohio State on both sides of the ball. They will not be able to do that against Georgia. Take the Bulldogs here…
Georgia 27 Michigan 20
