Yesterday, I picked three winners of the four games I predicted. I won’t toot my own horn though, because anyone who watches bowl games know: it’s any given day.
Let’s breakdown my winners for Dec. 30, another historic day in college football history. I’m saving Wisconsin and Miami for a spotlight piece.
TaxSlayer Bowl: Louisville vs. No. 23 Mississippi State
Noon E.T. on ESPN at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida
There’s a reason Lamar Jackson was named one of the most outstanding players of the season, and he’ll remind everyone why today. Mississippi State’s defense will put up a good fight, but in the end, Louisville will overwhelm a Bulldog team missing Nick Fitzgerald.
Winner: Louisville
Auto Zone Liberty Bowl: Iowa State vs. No. 20 Memphis
12:30 p.m. on ABC at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis
Iowa is definitely one of the most underrated teams, and you’ll see why today. The Tigers, Anthony Miller and Riley Ferguson will be in their home stadium, though, which is a dangerous combination. The Cyclones defense will stand their ground, but Ferguson will pull out all stops for a team win.
Winner: Memphis
PlayStation Fiesta Bowl: No. 11 Washington vs. No. 9 Penn State
4 p.m. on ESPN at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale
This looks to be another great Big Ten vs. Pac-12 matchup. Penn State’s iffy offense issues handling Vita Vea and good defensive fronts will come to a head today. Penn State running back Saquon Barkley will shine today, but Washington’s balanced defense will make the difference.
Winner: Washington
