Johnny Lawrence has finally proved he is a WINNER!!! Ever since the first Karate Kid movie was released, there has been a sentiment out in the world that Johnny Lawrence was wrongly accused of being a loser and wasn’t worth the time of day. That sentiment always drove me to drink.
In the series finale of Cobra Kai Lawrence, Johnny Lawrence finally proved to me and many others that he was undoubtedly wrongly accused of being a loser. He has a new daughter, Laura (Named after his mother), who is happily married to Carmen and has reignited his relationship with his son. His love for Miguel is just as deep as it has been since Cobra Kai started.
When the Segui Taikai tournament was rudely interrupted in Spain, the cast was back in “The Valley.” Terry Silver returned and made an offer to Johnny and Daniel, who saw the Segui Taikai tournament return and take place at Cobra Kai’s home.
Segui Taikai
The Iron Dragons team, led by Terry Silver, was walking away with the tournament. When Daniel and Johnny realized the combined team was no longer working, they separated themselves and restarted “Cobra Kai.” They had no choice when Robbie Keen was injured, and Miguel stepped in as the new captain. Sam Larrusso finally stepped up and got Tori to come back into karate, and when she defeated the “Iron Dragons,” star female Cobra Kai was one step closer when Miguel defeated the beast of the tournament, which left both Cobra Kai and the Iron Dragons with a tie. Under the tournament rules, the two senseis would have to fight each other for the world title.
When Johhny Lawrence defeated the Iron Dragon sensei, it finally meant that Johnny Lawrence was indeed written off by too many people, thanks to the horrible ending of The Karate Kid.
John Creese and Terry Silver
John Creese and Terry Silver were both men for whom I had no use. Creese ends up leaving the other team that had suffered from their one teammate’s death in Spain. He returns to the tournament’s final and deals with Terry Silver. When they face each other on Silver’s yacht and blow up the ship, both die; it is a fitting end to John Creese. Before that happens, though, he also has a final moment with Johnny Lawrence, which is very touching as Creese finally shows his humanity.
Daniel Larrusso
That little weasel finally stood aside and let Johnny Lawrence have his moment in the sun. I have never liked Daniel since the start of The Karate Kid.
Daniel is rightfully placed in second place this time, as Miyago Do Karate is still alive. When Johnny Lawrence starts seeing more students, he has his new students attend Miyago Do. What Cobra Kai did as a series was great. It shows the weaknesses of both characters; in the end, we see Daniel and Johnny at their best.
The Rest Of The Cast
When the finale aired, we saw much less of the cast, from Anthony to the rest of the Miyagi Do and Cobrai Kai students.
Ultimately, we see Hawk and Demetri go to the same school that isn’t MIT. They both keep their girlfriends as well. Robbie and Tori get contracts to be the new Karate Kids. Miguel and Sam join each other on Sam’s trip to Okinawa, where she has decided to go to college, and Miguel gets into Stanford.
All that mattered to me was seeing Johnny Lawrence visit his mother’s grave and finally let her know he was a winner!!!
