Does it really matter how long the gap is between movies for Bad Boys 4 or even Rush Hour 4? With news that both franchises will come back for a 4th movie, why not do the unexpected and throw the two together? Think about the Box Office appeal of Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker, and Jackie Chan. Now, think about not only the action but the comedy aspect of both franchises.
With Bad Boys mainly taking place in Miami and most of the Rush Hour movies in Los Angeles, who’s to say that either can’t travel? Bad Boys has been mostly Miami but in Bad Boys 2, they did travel to Cuba and Rush Hour has gone to Japan, Paris, and Las Vegas. Let’s make it an in-between and bring the crossover to New York. This way, no one has jurisdiction.
There is a slight difference in the franchises as Rush Hour is more geared toward the comedic side while Bad Boys is more action. However, that’s why the pairing up would work. Tucker has not been seen on that side of acting for a while and putting him with Lawrence would be a great comedic move. The same goes for Chan and Smith. While Tucker and Lawrence are the comedic sides of the teams, Chan and Smith will bring that seriousness as well as the side of the action. This could work.
Can Bad Boys 4 and Rush Hour 4 Work Together
The storyline for the Rush Hour franchise have been all over the place but still has managed to pull audiences in. From kidnapping to attempted assassinations, there has been a slight continuation of storylines. The same can be said for the Bad Boys films but as we’ve seen with Bad Boys 3, they are trying to build a continuing storyline now that Mike Lowrey has a son.
While a crossover for the franchises would be great, it doesn’t have to be a vital part of the movies. At this point, there is no sign of which movie will come out first. Nevertheless, what they can do is give character cameos. Maybe do a few comedic and action scenes and go their way.
Carter and Lee could make their way to Miami chasing another bad guy and call on the help of Lowrey and Burnett. On the flip side, Lowrey and Burnett could make their way to Los Angeles or even New York and call on the help of Carter and Lee. Or, another storyline could be that Lawry’s son had a run-in with Carter and Lee early on before he came in contact with Mike. There are so many possibilities where a crossover could work for Bad Boys 4 and Rush Hour 4.
