NFLWelcome back to another week of NFL fantasy football advice with Nuts and Bolts Sports! This week, congratulations are in order. You’ve made it to the second half of the NFL fantasy football season. Really, by fantasy football time, we’ve been in the second half for a little bit. Still, for purposes of the weekly column, we’ll keep to the NFL schedule. Per usual, we will recap last week’s fantasy football player market. Then, we will move onto this week’s fantasy football player market. So, let’s get it!
Recap: Week 8
First, the buy of last week’s fantasy football market was Geronimo Allison. Let’s see what Allison put out last week. Not a banner week for Geronimo. In his first week back, Allison caught his only target for 14 yards. So, not anything to write home about. Keep in mind, this was Allison’s first week back. This is a matter of patience with Geronimo. As the season progresses, the Packers will fall back to the passing game. Mr. Allison will have his fantasy football value here. Patience.
Second, the fantasy football sell of the week was Robby Anderson. As expected, Anderson did not play last week. Again, he is questionable this week. This one is short and sweet. If you didn’t sell Robby Anderson, sell him. He’s just not worth it. Plain and simple. Let’s keep it moving.
Last, the bench for last week of fantasy football was Amari Cooper. This remains this week. Cooper did have the advantage, though, of his first week in Dallas being a bye week. Still, this is his first week on the field. We still need to see what his chemistry is like with Dak. You can afford one week of him on the bench if he goes off. You cannot afford an egg if he does not do well that first week. Time to move onto this week’s fantasy football player market.
Buy: Courtland Sutton, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos
Okay, admission time. I’ve been holding onto this one for a while now. In truth, there’s a certain event I’ve been waiting to happen. This event was this week. The Broncos finally pulled the trigger on Demaryius Thomas. Facts only here. I have no ill will toward DT. DT won a Super Bowl with my Broncos. Unfortunately, his time is up in Denver. We will miss him. Courtland Sutton’s time is now!
Thus far, Sutton’s numbers are not eye-popping. You have to watch Broncos games to see the promise of Sutton. So far, Courtland has 17 receptions (on 37 targets) for 324 yards and two touchdowns. Again, on paper, not amazing. You have to watch the film. Sutton oozes confidence and promise. He’s a playmaker. His targets will increase. You want him on your team. Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football has him available in 51% of leagues. That has increased, though, by 39% in the last 24 hours. Get on it!
Sell: Jameis Winston, Quarterback, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Famous Jameis. I assume all class members watch football religiously. Furthermore, if you do, then you have the gift of foresight. This is inevitable. In fact, I will only spend a single paragraph on this. With Sutton, numbers didn’t tell the story. With Winston, the numbers tell a frightening story. As it is Halloween today, let’s see a horror story. Last week, Jameis connected on 18 passes for a touchdown…with four interceptions. If you really want nightmares, go watch the tape. You know what you need to do.
Bench: Mohamed Sanu, Wide Receiver, Atlanta Falcons
Finally, here we are. Another week, another Falcons player. That, in itself, should be telling of the team. The Falcons right now sit at 3-4. They are consistently inconsistent. Furthermore, they play in one of the weirdest divisions in football. Really, at this point, one could argue it’s the toughest division in football. It’s tough to get a repeat winner.
All said and done, it’s hard to count on anyone on that team. Even the great Julio Jones. A look at Sanu’s numbers reflects this. Mohamed has weeks as high as 18.30 points in fantasy football. In addition, he has weeks as low as 3.5 points in fantasy football. You just never know, though, what you’re going to get. For that matter, let’s put him on ice. See how it plays out over the next couple of weeks.
