The Boston Celtics will travel to Milwaukee on Sunday to take on the Bucks in their 2nd round Eastern Conference playoff matchup. Both teams had a relatively easy road in the 1st round. The Celtics swept the Indiana Pacers. Indiana was without their best player, Victor Oladipo. The Bucks beat the Detroit Pistons in 4 straight games. The Pistons played the 1st two games without Blake Griffin and were just happy to be in the post-season.
The Boston Celtics are built for the post-season. Coach Brad Stevens has shortened his roster and has an 8-man rotation. Everyone on this team knows their role and they do it very effectively.
Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum can carry a team for a quarter, a half or a game. They two are averaging over 41 points combined. Al Horford is an experienced veteran who can shoot the 3, rebound and he is a great passer. Their bench is led by Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier. They can all score 20 points on any given night.
The Milwaukee Bucks are led by their MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo. “The Greek Freak” averaged 26 points, 12 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 bocks against the Pistons. Make no mistake about it, Giannis is on a mission to get to the NBA Finals. His supporting cast is very good. Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez averaged 50 points per game in the first round.
Prediction:
The Bucks have been the best team in the Eastern Conference from Day 1 of the 2018-19 NBA Season. Will their athleticism and youth be enough to overtake the playoff-tested Celtics?
This series is going to come down to bench players. Can George Hill and Nikola Mirotic give Milwaukee 25 points off the bench, a night, between the two of them?
This is going to be a heavy weight bout. Both teams will try to land knockout blows.
In 1994, George Forman won the heavyweight championship by defeating 26-year-old Michael Moore. Forman said before the fight, “Youth and enthusiasm is good, but I would rather have age, experience and craftiness.”
This is going to be a heavy weight bout. Both teams will try to land knockout blows.
The Celtics have too much experience to lose this series. The Bucks are a year or two away.
My heart says Bucks, but my heart has let me down in the past. Age, experience and Craftiness wins here.
In an epic series. Take Boston to win 4 game to 2.
