I mean this when I say it, despite all of the frustrations, I absolutely love what I do I meet amazing young men, I hear amazing stories of talent, perseverance and and power. I am honored and humbled that they choose, during the most vital and pressure-packed part of there lives they chose to share their time, talents and attention with me.
A player that I truly see as a ‘buried gem’ in Adonis Brown, beyond having a true athlete’s name, he has the tape to match. Watch him versus two of the top receivers in the NSIC, Jarred Edmonds of Upper Iowa and Damon Gibson of MSU Moorhead. Edmonds only had four catches for 56 yards. He had a tougher game against Gibson who had nine catches for 134, but didn’t score in the game. Also he carries the memory and name of his late sister Nia with him on the field and off of it. He plays for her, himself and in service of his big dream. Get to know Adonis Brown.
1. I have had the pleasure of watching your career from your time at Winona State University. What would you say are the 5 biggest and best lessons you’ve learned on your journey?
I’ve learned lots of things in my career playing college ball. For starters, understanding you don’t know everything about the game yet. That the game was evolving around me
2. The next question, you played for Dan Appino at Boylan Catholic High School, what was that program like and what kind of coach was he?
The program was okay but we lacked the knowledge of the next level to hit the ground running. The area wasn’t know[n] for an athletic hub just based off the reputation our city has had in the past. We won 2 state championships with [an]undefeated record so I always thought that we would all get highly recruited because of that, but I was mistaken.
3. Who were your major rivals in High School and College?
Never really had a rival in high school or college.
4. Your home area is loaded with talent Dean Lowery and Andrew Spencer to name a few who are some of the best players you played with or against while you were in college, high school or growing up?
Dean Lowery [who] plays for the Green Bay Packers [was] my high school teammate and Andrew Spencer my college teammate
5. What was your recruitment process like, who was interested and how did you choose your school?
Like I said before we really didn’t get help in the recruiting process. I went in it not really informed about anything so I ended up going to a NAIA school in Davenport, Iowa. Then my skills started taking off as far as my body development. Then there was a coaching change and my recruiting coach left and I felt abandoned. He believed in me more than anyway {sic} [anyone] and I would have done anything for him. So, then my journey continued to Northwest Missouri State. There I saw talent all over the place and I was excited to get to work. Then the same thing happened with the second recruiting coach. Then I ended up staying out of school for a semester then. During that time I contacted schools to see what options I had but with my eligibility clock ticking. Winona State reached out to me and I spoke with them and finished my career with them.
6. What was the best game and the biggest play you made as a high school player?
.[I] Never really thought about making big plays. Just wanted to play my game and plays would happen. The method works, we went 28-0 and won 2 state championships.
7. What was you big “Welcome to College Football” Moment?
First game of the season when I got hit with my first double move. Eyes were completely in the backfield the whole time. For sure a high school mindset. I ended up holding him and just taking the flag. From that point on I was on high alert.
8. What is your current height/weight and what are your testing numbers?
Height: 6’1 Weight: 205 Wingspan 78 ¼” Hand: 9 ¼”

Pro Agility: 4.34
L Drill: 6.78
Broad Jump: 10”3.5”

9. How have the systems and staffs at your school impacted your development?
Being a[t] 3 different schools I learned a little bit from each school. The first school was the introduction to everything as far film, lifting, and juggling being a college athlete. The second school I learned to be independent and understand the business with college sports and all the little things they don’t inform you on in the recruiting process. The third I learned to put everything into action and get the job done.
10. Which coaches have had the greatest impact on you and why?
There is a guy in my hometown Coach Wickson, who is a family friend that has helped me and gave me advice on being a better DB.
11. How hard was to adjust to the verbiage, system and play-book and when did you feel 100% comfortable?
I don’t think you ever feel 100% comfortable with a system. It[‘s] more about understanding your role in a formation or in certain situations that gives you supreme advantage on an opponent. Its all reading and not hesitating to react.
12. Who have been your favorite teammates, and why?
Jordan Bell and Steve Thomas back at my first school. They were the ones that helped me adjust to the role and system my first two years of college. Even with stuff like getting to practice and school they really helped my development.
13. Who have been your favorite opponents and why?
Every time I compete against somebody that’s my favorite opponent! Never underestimate anyone but kill everybody.
14. If you could put together a list of your favorite players to watch or emulate, who is on that list and why?

17. When football is over what would you like to do with your education?
Own my own sports facility or go back to school and become a licensed Physical Therapist.
18. Finally if you could go back in time to talk to 17 year-old you, what would you tell him?
Tell him about the recruiting process and pick one sport to focus on instead of 3 different ones.
19. And what would you do differently if you could do it all over again?
Just focus more on trying to find help to get better than trying to use natural talent
20. What [if any] is/are your nickname[s] and how did you get it/them
“Creed”, just because the movie came out and the main character was named Adonis
