With training camp beginning in two weeks, it will be another one with Bill Belichick on the hot seat. Since 2020 Belichick is 25-26, made a defensive coordinator and special teams coach in charge of the offense, and ruined Mac Jones in his second year. It’s been bad to the point Kraft has had to make a point to say publicly the drafts are more collaborative, put out a statement that they will be interviewing for offensive coordinator, and make sure the Patriots got Bill O’Brien. He also made sure Belichick drafted Mac Jones in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Bill Belichick With A More Collaborative Draft
Before Mac was drafted Kraft said this in 2021
“If you want to have a good, consistent, winning football team, you can’t do it in free agency. You have to do it through the draft,” Kraft elaborated to reporters. “I don’t feel we’ve done the greatest job the last few years and I really hope, and I believe, I’ve seen a different approach this year.”
The days of Belichick doing something to either help his friends out or because the player maybe listens to him could be numbered. Belichick used to say they do what’s best for the team but really it was what was best for Belichick and Brady covered up the wrong doings by pulling games out of his ass. Brady covered up a lot and I’ve been saying it since he won the Super Bowl with Tampa in 2020. This is what Kraft said about how he hired Bill O’Brien this offseason.
Bill Belichick Was Cooperative With The Hiring Of Bill O’Brien
Putting Patricia and Judge in charge of the offense was not what was best for the team it was what was best for Belichick because they were both getting paid by other teams. Kraft probably throws last year out on Mac Jones and made sure that they get a clear picture of him this year. That is why they were interested in DeAndre Hopkins it has zero to do with Belichick and everything to do with Kraft and Bill O’Brien to make sure Mac get everything he needs.
Putting Belichick on the hot seat I would say has been in place for awhile. Little by little things have been taken away from him. I’m sure he has been instructed to stay away from the offense and do what he does best focus on the defense. Let Bill O’Brien take care of Mac Jones and he will report to you about the offense and scheme. I don’t care if Mac and Belichick don’t speak to each other all season on the practice or game fields.
As long as they win it shouldn’t matter. Even Tom E Curran said it Brady hated Belichick. If the quarterback likes Belichick then they probably suck like Cam Newton who kissed Bill’s ass the entire 2020 season. Bill liked Jimmy Garoppolo who is injury prone and can’t stay on the field.
Let me say this if the Patriots don’t make the playoffs or lose in the first round I think Belichick could be on his way out. Mayo would step in. Even if the Patriots win a round I think the days are numbered with Belichick being the head coach of this team. I don’t think he will be here when Mac Jones is ready for an extension and that is for certain.
