The MCU really kicked the door in when it comes to shared universes on the big screen. Not too many movies have done it with the same success. DC tried to create their own with the DCEU and ended up hitting the reset button. With the new slate of movies coming up, should we keep our eyes peeled during the Superman movie for cameos? Who would you like to see show up?
Supergirl
While there has been no confirmation of this, it would be extremely odd to see a Superman movie, knowing that Supergirl comes next, and not see Kara Zor-El. It would be even more interesting to get Krypto and not feature the full scope of Superman characters.
The Authority
This announcement seems to have been forgotten. Not only was a movie announced but it will supposedly have ties to Superman. Could they show up in Superman with their continued story picking up in Supergirl? It would be a stretch as their approach is a bit less Superman and more anti-hero. However, never say never when building a shared universe.
Batman
Has anyone found it odd they haven’t announced a casting for Batman yet? So far, we’ve got confirmation that Batman is part of the plans with Damian Wayne, that Clayface will be in the mix, and Brave and the Bold is on the release schedule. Yet, all is quiet in Gotham. What more perfect way could you keep this under wraps only to announce it as fans see it live in the Superman film. More than likely the scene would leak online, but if it didn’t it would create such a commotion for the Superman movie.
Hal Jordan/Jon Stewart
We know we’re getting Guy Gardner in the Superman movie. Heck, we’ve seen the trailer. However, knowing that both Hal and Jon have been announced, there aren’t many opportunities to include them between now, Peacemaker, and the Lantern series. One would think it would be Superman or Supergirl to introduce them
Yes, James Gunn has spoken out that each movie will feel like its own and you won’t have to do homework to understand what’s going on between films. However, if you’re building a shared universe, how exactly do you build up this universe without a little crossover? You still have to be able to keep it fun for the fans.
