Drake Maye’s performance in the loss to Buffalo was pretty good. The former North Carolina Tarheel now a Patriot played well against the Buffalo Bills. He extended plays and got the most out of his pass catchers. The Patriots lost to Buffalo due to the lack of defense and questionable blocking from the offensive line. But overall the future is bright for Drake Maye and the Patriots.
Now, I’m sure the current head coach of North Carolina will have no problem crediting Drake Maye and Mayo for his development. Belichick wouldn’t pivot to criticize the defense at all while saying nothing about Maye. Drake Maye’s Leadership is showing early on which would spread to the entire team.
Drake Maye is a Leader
That’s what a leader sounds like. Will the second-half play-calling decisions lead to changes with Alex Van Pelt this offseason? Who knows, but the play-calling in the first half was good. I believe they need to bring in a veteran defensive mind, as the staff has been consistently undermined and appears unprepared each week. If the offense can perform like they did yesterday for the entire game in the coming weeks, then I think Van Pelt’s job will be safe.
The Last Patriots Touchdown drive was a Root Canal for the Drake Maye offense
The last Patriots touchdown was brutal. First and goal at the four and it took them nine plays to get into the endzone. They need to work on their red zone offense because it’s pretty bad and it’s been bad for years. They just can’t seem to be able to score touchdowns and when they do it’s a root canal.
The first half should give us signs of hope. Drake Maye legitimately extended drives, and I can confidently say that the second and third picks in the draft are solid choices. Jayden Daniels is likely to be Rookie of the Year, with Drake Maye coming in second. Unfortunately, Maye won’t win the award because the Patriots aren’t successful. However, I like this kid and I’m excited for the future.
