The popular Yellowstone series concluded with everyone supposedly getting a happy ending outside of Jamie Dutton. Was his death deserved or should he have lived and possibly gone to jail? Rip and Beth brought their ranch and Kayce and his family found their freedom from the Dutton stronghold. As great as the series was over the years, the ending still left a few things unanswered.
In 5 seasons, as with most TV shows, there will be plotholes found by viewers. As for myself, I still have a few questions concerning a few scenes or storylines that either didn’t make sense or some that were brought to our attention and then left on the cutting room floor. Maybe the writers ran out of ink or they had a brain fart but either way, here are 3 questions I have following the Yellowstone series finale.
What Happened To The Sex Tape
Jamie never really gave the official order for John Dutton to be killed. Sarah went to New York on her own. However, Jamie did not fight too hard either. While he was indeed hurt over John’s death, he wasn’t at the point of being suicidal either. When Sarah went to New York, she was shown a video of her and Jamie having sex which would be used as blackmail in case something went wrong. But whatever happened to that tape?
Jamie’s son’s mother told him to lie to the press and say there was no sexual relationship. But we as Yellowstone viewers know there was indeed one and there was also video proof. Why was that tape never mentioned again? They know who killed John and you mean to tell me that Beth and then Kayce’s friends could not come up with that tape? Showing that tape to the public would have disgraced Jamie even more. But for whatever reason, the writers just let that tidbit of information disappear.
What Was The Point Of Colby’s Death
I’m still having a hard time figuring out why Colby had to die before the series finale of Yellowstone. Throughout the show, he provided some comic relief. While we did not know much about his background, Colby came off as a solid and loyal Cowboy. But still, there is no way that any of the Yellowstone writers can honestly justify his death.
If his death wasn’t hard enough, look at the toll it took on Teeter. Their relationship was great. One of the best on the show cause it was unexpected. But it was genuine. Colby dying did what for her character? She left the Ranch as did the others and all his death did was provide grief for a person who didn’t deserve it. Why not let Lloyd take the hit from the horse? Shit, he’s old with no real direction left. But taking Colby proved no purpose in the storyline at all.
Why Beth Nver Told Rip The Truth
Beth is still my favorite character on Yellowstone but that’s not to say that’s she perfect. Beth has skeletons in her closet and keeping secrets from Rip is one of them. The flashbacks to her youth and the beginning stages of their relationship. But we also saw what Jamie did to her in terms of her not being able to have a child. However, her hatred for Jamie never led her to tell Rip the truth about what happened. Why is that? With Beth always out for revenge, one would have thought, she would have come clean to Rip so he would have handled the Jamie issue seasons ago.
Now, with them being married, Beth will have to take that to the grave. Or, maybe she will come clean in their spinoff show. Rip is not the one to feel remorse for killing someone but if he learns the truth, it just might make killing Jamie even more better. Beth still has those nightmares and the only way to stop them is to come clean.
