As a fan of Found, I was a bit surprised by the series cancellation. The thought is that maybe a streamer like Netflix or even Amazon Prime would pick it up. But after watching the Season 2 finale, I’m convinced it concluded where it should have.
The foundation of Found was always Gabi vs Sir. Their cat-and-mouse game is what made the first Season so appealing. And with his escape at the end of Season 1, the stakes were raised. Then the writers decided to get creative and pushed the show into quicksand.
With Sir in jail, the suspense and mystery died down. Christian was never a threat, and with the big reveal that Heather aka Lena is Sir’s sister and the new baddie, the needle never moved to another level. Found lost its luster. It hurts to say this, but I can see why NBC decided to pull the plug.
Another storyline that drew fans in was the disappearance of Jamie. Now that Margaret has her son back, where does that storyline go? For a moment, the writers had us believe that maybe it was was not the real Jamie. Maybe Sir had a hand in that as well. But when it was confirmed, that luster was gone as well.
Lacey got over her Sir fear. Don got his husband back, and Zeke still won’t leave the apartment. Nothing has changed too much in 2 seasons. Where can storylines go from there?
How many strangers will keep walking into the M&A office with missing people cases? Gabi told the truth at the end of Season 2, but will she face any real legal backlash? If she does, that means that the Police Department and Trent will be held at fault since they knew about it as well. Can’t see that going anywhere.
Sir was stabbed while in prison. Did a guard do it? Maybe it was an inmate, or he did it himself. Who knows, but he stopped being a force this season. His sister is in custody, but she never posed the type of threat to Gabi and her team the same way that Sir did.
As I stated earlier, for about a good Season and a half, I was a huge fan until Found went off the hinges. There’s no need to try to bring this show back. Sir and Gabi were the focal point, but the writers changed course and by doing so, they stripped Found of what gave it so much hope in the first place.
