Ted Daniel from Boston 25 and Kristina Rex from WBZ reported that the federal investigation into the Karen Read case is closed. Initially, it was expected that Hank Brennan, the special prosecutor in the case, would announce this at the Karen Read hearing. However, that announcement never happened. Instead, Brennan discussed how the defense had paid for AARCA experts at the federal government’s request but did not address the previous day’s reports. He also failed to clarify how much the Commonwealth paid for Ian Wiffin’s testimony regarding the Google search at 2:27 AM, which allegedly never occurred.
Aidan Kearny came forward yesterday, stating that the federal investigation is still ongoing. I agree with Turtle Boy on this matter; the Norfolk County DA likely doesn’t want to handle two failed cases simultaneously—the Sandra Birchmore case and the Karen Read case. It has been suggested, possibly by Hank Brennan or others from the DA’s office, that the investigation is over because there is pressure to prosecute Karen Read, regardless of whether she actually harmed John O’Keeffe. Nonetheless, Karen Read is not backing down and is not afraid to speak out.
Typically, you’d expect someone accused of murder to avoid the cameras. For instance, Aaron Hernandez was relentlessly pursued by the media and remained silent. Similarly, Brian Laundrie’s parents were aware of Gabby Petito’s location after their son killed her but chose not to speak to the media. In contrast, Gabby Petito’s family has been vocal. One would expect the Alberts and McCabes to share their thoughts about their friend John O’Keeffe and what transpired that night, yet they remain silent. If John O’Keeffe didn’t enter the Albert house, what could they possibly have to hide?
There Was No Corruption in other Cases like The Karen Read case
In a small town, everyone knows each other, and it often reaches the highest levels. Aidan Kearny, an independent journalist, faces charges of witness intimidation for standing outside the homes of those involved in the Karen Read case. This seems peculiar, especially since another independent journalist in Rhode Island faced no charges for similar behavior in a missing person’s case. Journalists outside Aaron Hernandez’s and Brian Laundrie’s homes were also not charged. Why is Aidan Kearny being treated differently? This raises questions about the credibility of claims that the federal investigation is over, particularly if they’re coming from the Norfolk DA.
The information points to a close-knit community where key players are interconnected. For example, a Canton Select Board member is a family member of the Alberts, and there’s also a Canton police officer related to them. The Proctors are friends with the McCabes and the Alberts. In contrast to the other cases mentioned, where no corruption was apparent, it was acceptable for people to gather outside the homes of Hernandez and Laundrie.
Karen Read has nothing to hide
It appears that those involved in the Karen Read case are attempting to silence Aidan Kearny because they don’t want the truth to come out. They are trying to convince the public that the federal investigation is concluded when, in reality, it is still ongoing.
