August 21st:
We had a weekend off from the UFC but the Octagon is back on Saturday at the APEX for another Fight Night card.
Middleweight contender Jared Cannonier headlines UFC Vegas 34 against Kelvin Gastelum.
Jared Cannonier (13-5) was last in action in October 2020, when he dropped a unanimous decision against former 185-pound champion Robert Whittaker. Prior to that, he secured three TKO victorious against Jack Hermansson, Anderson Silva, and David Branch.
Kelvin Gastelum (16-7, 1 NC) last fought in April, also suffering the defeat against Whittaker by unanimous decision. Before that, he similarly defeated Ian Heinisch to rebound from a three-fight losing streak.
And the Co-Main Event will be lightweight veteran Clay Guida against Mark O. Madsen.
Guida (36-20) is coming off the win by unanimous decision against Michael Johnson. Undefeated Madsen (10-0) also won his previous bout by unanimous decision against Austin Hubbard.

Undefeated in six octagon appearances, Giga Chikadze has his first UFC headlining opportunity.
Barboza headlines a UFC card for a third time, his first since a lightweight bout against Justin Gaethje at a UFC on ESPN show in March 2019. The Brazilian star would later drop down to featherweight, where he is 2-1 with back-to-back victories over Shane Burgos and Makwan Amirkhani. Overall, Barboza sports a 16-9 UFC record.
Chikadze has defeated all six of his UFC opponents to date. He went 4-0 in 2020 and is coming off of consecutive first-round TKOs of Cub Swanson and Jamey Simmons. He has not lost since a failed Contender Series bid in June 2018.
